How Do I Know if it is a Premium Soft Top 2015

Just as the title reads. I am going to look at a soft top from a 2015 Hard Rock JK tomorrow that came with the dual top group, per the seller. Were all of the Hard Rock Wrangler soft tops the Premium Top with all of the windows tinted? Thanks in advance.

From what I understand all 2014 and up dual top group came with the premium top. Just make sure it's dark black inside. The inside of the non-premium is gray in color. There is a thread on here that covers all of this. Don't forget to get the roll bar brackets.

I believe Deep Tint is standard on the Hard Rock. The inside of the premium soft material is black vs the gray of the standard soft top.

If it's the same as the 2014 then it should be made of twill rather than vinyl. Instead of a plastic feel, it'll be like a nice rich, black cloth feel. The premium soft top is amazing!

Thanks guys.

Any tools I need to take with me to install the soft top besides the hard top removal tool kit that came with my Wrangler.

In you opinions what is a fair price for a new never installed soft top. It was removed when brought home and some pieces are still in the boxes.

Premium OEM top is 2013+. It should be BLACK all the way through, really DARK black. You should be able to tell just by feeling the material that it's a thick twill, rather than sailcloth.

Those are all characteristics of a 2013-15 Premium OEM soft top. Unless you find a manufacturing tag on it somewhere I don't know of any way you can tell a difference in what year between 13-15.

Price will vary based on supply/demand, location, etc. It really comes down to what you are willing to pay and how long you want to wait to find one for the right price.

Are you installing the top when you pick it up? Any reason not to take it back home?

Here's a video that was linked in another thread that I thought was helpful.

The tool kit that comes with new Jeeps is all you need. There's a thread here somewhere listing all the bits and pieces you need to install it. One of the easiest to miss is the brackets attached to the roll bars. When you remove the soft top, it's best to leave those attached, so they're easy to leave behind when picking one up second hand.

I guess if you're installing it when you pick it up, you'll know it's all there. This is probably a dumb question, but you're removing the hard top before you leave, right?

Oh, I should have mentioned that there are some links to posts with pictures and parts lists in post one in https://www.wranglerforum.com/f274/so...lp-563993.html.

I plan to remove my top, drive about an hour and a half, and install the soft top before returning.

Are the roll bar brackets removable with the hard top tool kit that came with the JK.

Thanks for the replies.

I have seen some claim they bought them for 3 to 4 hundred dollars here, but I don't want to miss the summer waiting on this kind of price.

If it makes you feel better I'm working on a deal for $700 for a used premium top. I haven't seen any under $600 in the past few weeks and have seen them listed as high as $1500. The unused ones are usually found in the upper part of that range.

I think so? There's bolts holding the top to the bracket and bolts holding the bracket to the roll bar. One set is a torx head and the other a standard hex head. I can't recall off hand which is which. I know there's a standard hex socket in the tool kit along with all the torx bits. I'm assuming it's the right size for this, but can't say 100% for sure. I've never taken my brackets off the roll bars. Hopefully someone can chime in who knows for sure.

all dual tops have the premium tops. I don't know if all premium tops from a dual top package are tinted or not...

I paid $600 for a brand new premium top, but they normally are listed here for $1000 new. Used are at least $600

Thanks for the replies. I purchased the Premium Soft Top with tinted windows for $850. The windows and door frames were in the boxes, unopened. I am sure I could have waited and bought it cheaper but that could have been in the dead of winter.

The seller even helped install it and offered to help with any warranty issues should any arise.
