Their ad is super hilarious. I almost wish they’d sell them for the sheer fact that the onslaught of video reviews and parodies would be priceless. 😆😆

All kidding aside...

The poison spider hood vent is sick. I had it on my TJ. Install isn't bad at all.. You'll need a Dremmel drill, a crap ton of super thin rubber washers and I suggest using a 3M black auto strip caulk (applied conservatively) based sealant between the hood and hood vent. You can see mine in my profile. Came out great!

The insta-winch thing is a joke right? Meaning they aren't actually selling them? I already have a 10K winch, I was just curious whether people actually buy that or not - if so that's pretty bad. I wouldn't put it past RC to actually sell a product like that. If it's a complete joke, I am actually surprised they didnt stoop that low because I could see a market for that. A sad market, but a market nonetheless.

For $50 or less each on The Amazon I could make the Insta-Winch and sell it for $100 back on The Amazon.

I wonder if the one picture is actually a plastic tray from one of those kitchen stores or from a real Jeep accessory outlet.

But who knows. Maybe we are all wrong and it could even be a real Jeep accessory tray for drinks, sandwiches and such for 'tail gate' parties or during stops. I would still not want it.

I installed the Poison Spyder hood louver a few weeks ago. I love it! It serves a purpose (probably not a huge deal) and I think it looks great.

Ordered the Poison Spyder louver today! Excited to tear into the hood and get it on. Adds a nice aesthetic with some function.

I'd actually consider buying 4-6 of these and linking them together around a buddies truck. Too funny.... no whining now...

As stupid as it might look.. make sure you use the template. I used a sharpie (inside the lines) so I could stay on a straight cut. If you ordered the black powder coated louver double check all the cuts. They have been know to rush them out to keep up with demand and the cuts aren't clean and/or they aren't powder coated properly. I sent my first one back and the second one was perfect.

And you might want to be careful with the template. It's a very thin paper. It will rip easy.

I like my Poison Spyder hood vent. Took about 2 hours to install, be aware you have to drill a lot of holes..... The cutting of the hood wasn't bad, used a thin cutoff wheel in my 4" grinder.

Don't know why it loaded sideways....

One more issue that comes to mind and unfortunately this is a serious one that applies to all similarly rigid large hood installations - DECREASED CRASH PROTECTION.

Becasue OEM hoods are designed in ways, that in the event of a crash they crumble and don't penetrate the passenger compartment and thereby beheading the occupants.

Any large rigid hood installation would add rigidity to the hood and effectively cancel the designed factory crash protection.

Just as food for thought.

Hmmm...

Given how the hood is attached with hinges, the width of the hood as compared to the width of the front windshield frame, the strength of the A pillar, and given how thin the hood sheet metal is and louver are, I don't see how any impact would drive the hood directly back, with the hood/louver not bending or folding, all the while maintaining a parallel angle with the ground and pushing straight back through the windshield and windshield frame into the passenger compartment and thereby decapitating the occupants?

I could be wrong, but I just can't fathom this. However, it does make for an interesting visual image.

No question you are making a good argument. The counter argument would be that if you add velocity to the equation, things may work out much different than expected. The only way to find out for sure is to crash test it. I know, I don't want to put myself of my family behind any non OEM style hood.

Are you kidding me with this BS.. lifts, larger than the OEM spec tires reducing the size of bumpers ect.. but dont touch the hood, it might kill you? Blah! Blah.. blah...

Poison tells you to keep the re-enforcement in place for full strength. Use the template...
