How much would I get roasted if I....

So I had one of these on my 08 JK (the appliqué on the hood). And as absolutely useless and non-functional it is, I really liked the look of it. Thinking about throwing one on the hood of my 13 JK Gecko...but just not sure....what's y'alls thoughts?

Oh and for reference the red one is a random pic I pulled off google. The black JKUS was mine.

I’m not a fan, but it’s your jeep. There’s quite a few mods I don’t like, so my jeep doesn’t get them. That’s the great thing about life, you do you, and I’ll do me.

If you like it, go for it!

Oh man I was expecting the roastiest of the roasters to swoop down with vengeance and prosecute the potential defiling of the sacred automobile.

If you're just trolling for drama, try asking about brake caliper stick-ons or seafoam...

I'm no troll, I actually like the mod - just fun to see people's opinions and I'm not one to get butt-hurt. Guess I'll have to search out these caliper stock-ons.

It kind of looks like a luggage rack to me, but I’m with mrcarcrazy, it’s your Jeep, do what you like. The only person I shame into doing what I like is my brother-in-law because I have to look at his Jeep all the time.

I hadn't even thought about that, potentially loading luggage on my hood. Genius! lol, your poor in-law.

Maybe you could get a package deal on a hood applique and an Insta-Winch: https://www.roughcountry.com/insta-winch.

Just needs a few mods to make it functional securing that high-lift on the hood could quell the naysayers.

Horrible. Truly putrid. Yes, it's your Jeep, but you dishonor everything that is sacred by tacking a plastic tea tray on the hood for no purpose other than to give Jeep haters one more thing to hate on. If you do this the terrorists have won. Did our brave military men and women fight five (at least) wars since 1942 just so you can do this to bring shame on the noble Jeep? I can most adamantly say no!

Don't do it man! I don't know how long it's been since you had the 2008, but hopefully long enough for a lot of people to forget this bad, bad lapse of judgment. Take that gift and don't do it again!

It's really a question of do you want to live in the past, reliving the glory days of your old jeep. Or do you want to move on in life and try new things and leave the old hood applique behind you.

The choice is yours.

Nobody else can decide for you, but I would say get it.

hey here's the deal - if I do buy it, there's not many more morons that you'll see on the road with one. And someone has to be the google guinea pig for when someone tries to find images of it on an actual rig. It's all about taking one for the team and greater good of accessorizing.

Ugly but aids greatly in underhood cooling. So I give it one-thumb-up, one-thumb-down.

Now on the other hand, the Daystar little hood vent thingies that I have, those look the business AND cool your engine bay. Everybody wins, terrorists are held at bay!

I think if I do one I'll probably go with the Poison Spyder. Looks good and does the trick. A lot of cutting and drilling into the hood, but I have a spare rubicon hood in my garage if I ever need one. Will be a cool project.

Sell your Jeep...

The hood decal isn't the problem.. You own the wrong vehicle. You're not a Jeep guy, you're actually a hummer guy. They don't get much respect on the street.. might be because of the TV dinner tray;

That’s a silly mentality. When can you ever go wrong with an extra TV dinner tray. 🙄

I think it looks like shit, absolutely horrendous, with that said, no one else has to like it, it's your Jeep.

I agree with jac04, you really should really look into the Insta-Winch as well:

I guess we will see...leaning towards chopping my hood apart and going the Poison Spyder route. But, for the giggles. If someone can find an insta-winch for sale - I’ll buy the dadgummed thing and throw it in and do my own review - promise. 👊🏼 Oh and one for the gram too. 😆😆

Like the look of the Avenger hood. Dont care for the tv tray look. Also, NoGabiker's low key vents look good. What is best about the Avenger are the side vents. Looks like an Eagles beak.
