So when you remove the doors and a hard top on a JKU, the space from the rear seats to the tailgate is completely open. But on the soft top, there’s a plastic panel on either side which is there to hold the soft windows in place. I always see people with the tops down and these parts removed so that there is no panel next to the rear passengers’ shoulders (if this makes sense). I tried removing these two things but it seems that you have to take off the entire soft top skeleton on top of the roll bar along with it. How do people take these off for a cleaner look?
It could also be that a lot of the folks you see without the door surrounds are driving Jeeps that had hard tops. Hard tops don't have door surrounds.
