I want new speakers- upgrade from stock

I have stock speakers in my 09 jkx and I want some new speakers. What the best bang for my buck, cheap but good.

What is your goal ? Rarely do swapping speakers alone provide that much better sound ...

I do not totally agree with the above. I replace my OEM's 2013 JK speakers with Kickers. They helped quite a bit. Not a huge difference, but a lot. They seem pretty popular on this forum. That is how I found about them.

You might be in the rare camp

"Not a huge difference, but a lot" seems a bit confusing though

Most times you upgrade the amp with the speakers - as OEM amps aren't clean enough to run at higher power for the speakers to be noticeable. The kickers might be extremely efficient. However, I bet you would see a huge positive difference if you added a some line outs/line converter with a stock head unit and an aftermarket amp !

I changed out to Kickers and kept the base HU, but only for about a month. As stated above they make a difference but the base HU didn't have the power to drive them.

I've read you need the premium sound system, whether it be the infinity or alpine system. If you have the base sound system, speaker upgrade won't offer anything. If you have the premium system then find yourself a 2 ohm speaker like the JBL GTO638 or GTO628. 3 way vs 2 way speaker but both 2 ohm. Any 2 ohm speaker will work. Then do the tweeter mod. Sorry I don't have the links to the many discussions on this topic but easily researched.
A pair of speakers run $50-$70. And the tweeter mod will run you $5. By far the best bang for the buck upgrade to the Jeep is the tweeter mod. And adding new speakers in the SB is a close second.

I installed these (along with a kenwood head unit) and its a massive (massive) difference from stock. It took quite a bit of tuning but I'm very satisfied with the end result.

These went in the sound bar (with some polyfill from amazon):

These went in the front (lower) dash, again, with some polyfill:https://www.crutchfield.com/p_108R65...-Speakers.html

Got this off amazon, sounds plenty good for a Wrangler:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

All in i was about $350ish with the cheap Boss amp install kit I got off Amazon to put the sub in --->https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Im not an audiophile but I appreciate balanced, clear sound with full sounding bass and this combo does that. On a side note, I didn't add the sub in at first because i thought the speakers would give some more bass but they definitely didn't. Add the sub, it wakes EVERYTHING up.

I would upgrade the head unit first, it will get you more power out to your speakers. Then shop around on crutchfield for some replacement speakers. They have deals all the time and they through in free mounting kits and harness adapters. Just go through "find what fits my vehicle". I went with some marine grade polks for all of my speakers, its added piece of mind with the top off.

Definitely HU first, it may even make the stock speakers sound reasonably decent. Then speakers, and if you really like music add a small sub to fill in the bass. Try a something like a Kenwood KSC SW11. under seat powered sub, it won't rattle windows but will fill in the bass nicely.
