Jeep Center Console Lid Problem

Hi all, recently discovered little issue my center console. I've included a photo for reference to perhaps you give a better idea on the problem. So to the problem, basically when opening the lid now it feels like heavy like dead weight as oppose to before when it felt much lighter and easier to open, and when closing the lids is slam down like a ton of bricks. The only thing I keep in the lid part of the console is a pen, but I doubt very much the weight of the pen would be causing such a problem. Personally I think its something that needs to be tighten or something when opening the rotating lid up & down. If anyone had a similar issue and can offer some troubleshooting techniques or a solution that wouldn't be too costly, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Hard to see in your pic. Look at the bottom arrow. There is a spring in there. Possibly missing or broken.

My pic for reference.

Did your pen get jammed in the hinge?

Center Console Lid

I experienced this several months ago. In my case a USB charging tip had fallen into the cavity between the lid and the upper tray. You might check carefully for any obstruction.

I believe so, I think I should take it off and pop in back on that could be one theory, to the poster who mentioned a possible spring being broken or missing that could be another theory. I'll have to check that out later....good suggestions. Thank you.
