Jeep Renegade commercial

Well what did we think of that big ad for the Jeep Renegade? Smart move not showing the vehicle if you ask me.

My wife thought it sucked, she said "if they can't show me what it looks like, I'm not interested..."

Exactly, no reason to show that thing! Thought the commercial was alright in general.

This land is your land. This land is my land. I just traded my jk in for a renegade!...just playing, but when the lease runs out on my wife's Toyota Corolla next year, I would have no problem with her getting one.

No children drowning in a bathtub, so it's already not the worst Super Bowl ad.

I thought it was a really well done commercial. While the Renegade doesn't get a lot of love from most of us on the forum, I certainly hope it sells well.

New jingle for Manning to sing in the next commercial:

"Nationwide, that kid just died"

I know, WTF? My kid was watching with us when that commercial came on. I then had to take a break from watching the game to explain and put it in context. Thanks Nationwide.

As to the Renegade, not that the trail rated badge had any validity in my opinion anyway, I think putting it on the Fiat really proves it's just BS.

I thought it was a pretty cool commercial. I'm not gonna run out and trade in my jk. But, it seems like a cool little ride.

It was done pretty well actually. Wish I could say the same for Nationwide....that commercial really bummed me out.

The Dodge 100 year ad was the best of the night IMO.

I'm not sure what you mean they didn't show the vehicle, they showed like 10 different clips of the vehicle. That's exposure on par with any other car commercial I've seen lately. I got the message "It's a go anywhere SUV that can take you all over the country or world, and you won't feel so bad about the gas consumption or cost." Not saying I necessarily believe that with an expedition load strapped to the roof...

I really want to like the Renegade, but there's no manual on the Trailhawk, it costs more than a Wrangler(*), and has an interior that would get ruined in pretty short order.

* The Trailhawk I mean. I'm worried they'll be charging more for the next Wrangler thanks to this thing. Well, more that they already undoubtedly had planned to.

Saw the Renegade at the car show it was ugly, looked like a jacked up Kia Soul.

I was not a fan of the commercial.
However the Fiat/Blue Pill commercial was freaking hilarious!

Let's face it guys... Not everyone wants a wrangler! Jeep needs a vehicle to compete in the rest of the marketplace. If the renegade sells well, the wrangler will also benefit.

The renegade is poised to be a Subaru killer... Or at least give it a run for its money.

I thought the commercial was excellent. Great imagery and an attempt to go global. This land is for all of us... But you'll need a jeep to explore it.

I thought the commercial was pretty cool.
Great messages.
1). The world is beautiful
2). Go out and explore
3). Tread lightly
4). Buy a cheap awd beater to do it in.

For those that may have missed it. you can watch it here:
2015 Jeep Renegade World ? Football Commercial

If I had a son or daughter in college, that may be a great choice of car for them, depending on how the safety tests come out.

Well, ok, maybe I'm being a little harsh. It's probably supposed to die in time time to keep people out of danger. But it also seems to give out after about 35 feet or so of an otherwise easy steep climb. I think Jeep or someone needs to provide some kind of high-idle setting. Maybe I should have just bought a Rubicon.

My favorite Jeep commercial has always been:

285 horse and 260 ft lb of torque should be plenty to make an "easy" hill climb.

A Suzuki Samurai can make amazing climbs with a fraction of that power... You must be doing something wrong.

That's a good ad, however it can't hold a candle to the Jeep buffalo ad from the 70s.

If by wrong you mean, engage 4-LO, take my feet off the accelerator, crawl along and then listen to the engine die, then yes, I guess I'm doing it wrong. I thought the BLD fighting slipping rocks was killing the engine at first, but it dies on no-kidding plain old grass covered hills too. The longer JKU feels a lot safer on a hill than a Samurai, by the way. I think the most amazing thing the Samurai could do is not flip over. Have you guys never killed your JK's engine? Anyway, I wonder what the torque curve for the Renegade's engines look like, anyone see it yet?

Manual or automatic?

I have a manual and have crawled up some pretty steep mountain sides without stalling or using the throttle other than when a little throttle is needed like when getting a tire up onto a rock.

As always, video doesn't show how steep this really is.

I have a 6 speed JKU sport too, with the 3.73 gears and an open diff. I'm very familiar with video vs reality :-) I don't have a video to share of it sputtering out though. It *seems* weaker than my TJ was, but it's heavier and I'm more demanding of it. I'm sure if the idle was just a little higher it'd do alright. I'd like to see something like the Selec-Terrain dial that allows the idle to be adjusted in low-range. I'm not sure if Selec-Terrain bumps up the idle on the Cherokee and Renegade, but it better in my opinion.

That guy that can't climb hills with his JK, check to see if you got both halves of the V engine!!! :-) Really, something has gotta be wrong??

Some of you guys really break me up! The Renegade is to fill a spot Jeep needs to so they can keep making us JK's. It's gonna be better off road than the other little make believer's no matter what and it will attract I'm sure the customer's Jeep wants.

My wife has a '15 trailhawk, everyone bit--ed and moans about the "New" Cherokee cuz it ain't the old one too. Guess what guys her TH will go almost anywhere a stock JK will go, maybe even better believe me. The elec. rear locker works great too!! She does hate me getting it all dirty though! :-)
