Jeep Wrangler JK front lower valance splash shield

I peeked under my new jeep and noticed this plastic shield under the bumper which seems to be as strong as 1 gallon milk jugs.

Is there a replacement made a bit stronger out there?

I've had plastic packaging stronger than what they have installed.

If you think that is bad....wait to you look at your front and rear bumper. LOL!!! I took that off of mine when I put on a new bumper.

I also took that plastic shield guard off and replaced it when I replaced my bumpers. Took the top guard off as well. Junk. I did Hyline bumpers front and rear. Replaced the plastic shield with a Hyline Air Dam.

I don't know if there's a steel replacement out there that will attach without having to replace the front bumper as well.

It's an air damn. I don't believe it's meant to do anything but deflect air and minor road debris, and help with aerodynamics/MPG's. Just like any modern vehicle. They all have these plastic panels now. It's not a skid plate. Most just rip it off, especially when replacing the bumper.

This.

Most offroad bumpers will have one available or come with one.

my hard rock has one, it's pretty solid metal. well, at least a bit more solid than the bumper. will see when i raise it and hit that instead of the bumper on rocks.

I just swapped my bumpers this week for the 10A/hard rock bumpers and the front air dam with them is actually a pretty high quality stamped steel piece that fits underneath like a glove.

If its about the plastic one:
I used some rubber grommets (old drain plug gaskets) on the lower two clips -nice snug fit.

Most of us just reach under and rip that sucker off... If you off-road at all, the trail will eventually do it for you.

Mine was loose since day one, Added some rubber grommets 1/32 (1mm) thick on the lower plastic clips- fixed the issue.
I think any rubber o-ring or cut grommets from bike tube will work.

A Currie Rockjock tow bar mount replaced mine. It also doubles as a nice skid plate.

Accidentally cut mine when I was putting the stubby ends on. Popped it off and threw it in the pile of factory parts I am accumulating. Haha.

Jeep is trying to go zero landfill. They melt their plastic trash into an 'air dam' and install it on your Jeep. Jeep's carbon footprint goes down, yours goes up.
