JK Windshield Wipers - best brand?

My wipers are skipping across the window and screeching like crazy so its time to change...

Is there a preferred brand to buy for front windshield wipers or is it just grab the cheapest? I noticed the Mopar wipers @ Quadratec run $16 a piece. That's a bit pricey but if that's my best bet, I'll buy them. The ones on my Jeep lasted a solid 2 years so maybe that's the way to go.

Anyone have suggestions on something better?

Thanks in advance,
-Dirk

I bought the PIAA units and they seem quite solid.

Wal-Mart ANCO $8 (or something like that). I go through 2-3 pair per year in the NE. No sense in spending more.

I've used Bosch Icons for a while now on many different vehicles and love them - https://amzn.to/2FwrJkE

You could try applying Rain-X to the windshield and wiper blades.

I replaced my two year old mopar with Bosch Icons and they are terrible. Streaked right from the start. I'm going back to mopar.

This reminds me, anyone remember when they made those double and even triple blades in a single blade housing? Even offered them in crazy colors to match your fuzzy dice, etc. Lol!

Same happened to me. I'll be skipping Bosch from now on. Waste of money.

Mopar also has an approved brand Magneti Morelli - Value line blades. They work fine - good price - check with your Jeep dealer. Have 3 Jeeps & they get these every year (after winter).

Yeah, they were usually hanging on the shelf right next to the fake cell phone antennas and right above the yellow fog lights

Had the same problem with mine so I washed the windshield really good and haven't had them skip in over a month.

Happy with my Bosch wipers. No matter what you choose, go with a 16" wiper. I believe stock calls for 15" but the 16" cover a little more of the windshield without any interference problems.

I have silblades now but I should have kept the stock frames, they had 6 pressure points instead of 4.

Bosch Icons. Small amount of streaking and they last forever. The streaking comes and goes it’s not a problem. You can’t wear them out. Expect 3-5 years out of one set. If you forget to shut them off when it’s not raining too hard, it doesn’t hurt them.

After checking them all out, I think I'm going with the Bosch Icons. Highly rated and the same cost as replacing with a stock Mopar blade.

Also - Good point Newhere, I'll need to wash the windshield a bit better than I have been, its currently not washed well after the winter we had here...

Thanks all for the suggestions!

Upvote for PIAA.

Silicone Wiper Blades

I have yet to put Rain-X on the glass and it beads as if I had. And they are whisper quiet.

Before replacing your blades try cleaning your windshield and edge of blades with rubbing alcohol. If your blades aren't wore out it should help as it removes all the oil and road film/grime from the glass and blades. YMMV.

I've been through a few different options already suggested. They all seemed alright but didn't seem to last very long (less than a year) before things started to not look so good in clearing my windshield. I went back to the Mopars and honestly feel they've been the best and have lasted longer than the rest. I replaced my wipers last spring with the Mopars, where they have now gone through a winter of rain, ice, and snow, and they still seem to be working great. I don't know what/if there's anything special about them, but the OEM's just seem to work and last, so I'll be sticking with the Mopars.

My Jeep is 5 years old and I’m still running the original wipers...... They finally need replacing, so I will for sure get the original Mopars again.

So I have a a 2014 Wrangler Unlimited Sport - I want to go with Rain X but do not see one in 15" for the "good" ones... I have seen some put 16" on - does that reach farther on each side of the windshield? Any issues with them hitting the top or bottom of the frame??

Soak wiper blades in 303 overnight. Wipe off and reinstall. Do this twice a year in a 4 season climate. Makes a huge difference.

I use to do this. Then I tried a set of Bosch Icon wipers and realized they last minimum one year if I'm hard on them and usually at least 2 to 4. I just have to be careful not to try to use them on an icy windshield. If I can avoid that (i.e. let the windshield defrost or scrap first) they seem to last forever. It's a higher cost up front, but ends up being less in the long run.

I installed Bosch Icons and they worked great the first few weeks, but now both sides are leaving terrible streaks, it is really unbearable considering I just replaced with them and they are the higher end blades. I had original Mopar's prior to that which lasted a good 60k+ miles and worked wonderful.

I have not changed my blades for 2 years, but I think it is because I use Rain-x. I know there are better options, but I had a bottle so I am using it up. Some days I don't even have to use the wipers. As a bonus, the bugs come off easier.

I also use Meguiars Ultimate Quick Detailer on all the other windows and sideview mirrors. My rear window stays cleaner and the side windows and mirrors do not get nasty water spots.
