Welcome to the forum.

Still waiting...

4WheelParts, Q-Tek, etc.
Maybe Ryan will be selling them too.

Surprise surprise.
Out of the blue, FedEx Ground showed up today with a box. Early Xmas.

JWS 279-J tail lights are now installed on Snoopy.

Took me a minute to wire them right. Not as many plugs on the driver's side unit.
The passenger side is plug/play. The driver's side you have to plug one of the old ones into the leftover socket, then plug in the new light. I zip-tied the the resistors to the wire bundles and declared victory.

I like the way they did it.
The red lights are blade fashion. Back-up light is crisp and bright.
And a little surprise is included that I didn't expect --- it flashes sideways alternately on blinker; a great safety feature.

My cel phone pics were terrible. I'll try to remember my camera in the morning.

I installed them at lunch with a couple of guys from the lab.
I had just helped one guy, a Molecular Spectroscopy expert, set up a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The Cary-60 had him mildly excited ----- these tail lights had him giggling like a little kid.
Then a small crowd gathered with some of my crew and some folks from other businesses in the building. The lights got a universal thumbs-up.

Here's my bad pic. It makes it look like some of the lights aren't on but they all were. It sorta looks like Tron when it's lit.

Now I know why they sent them to you, you put their sticker on your rear window!

Hope they're released soon, thanks for the pic and hope to see some others in the coming days.

I just heard from JWS ---- the resistor is free-floating and I need to secure it to the Jeep, not the lamp or wires.

The set I got is almost production-ready. I'll tinker some more with them.

What? Would you take a pic of this if possible?

I'm going to get back in there and hard-mount the resistors to the Jeep body. They include clips ---- I'm guessing that the resistors get hot and they don't want to melt anything.

I took somewhat better pictures on the way to work this morning.
I tried my phone yesterday --- fail.
Tried the Canon I have at work --- fail.
Tried the Fuji back-up camera I carry --- fail.
Used my Nikon this morning --- marginal success. The things are bright in a strange way. I guess I just don't know which settings to apply...

I have had the tail lights on order from when they first published about them...waiting...waiting. Any chance you can get a picture of the wiring and resistors?

So when the turn signal is activated the lights move from inside to the outside of the light?

I'll try to remember to snap a pic when I go back inside. It'll be a few days ---- super busy 'til after the holiday.

No; they just blink. No fancy movement like the Mustang lights. Directional moving lights would be interesting.
But the light on the side does blink alternately to the rear LEDs. So that narcoleptic Escalade pilot in the lane next to you might be less inclined to crowd you when you make a lane swap.

The set I have is a pre-production set to test for them. Gotta make sure they're perfect before release.

Get them from your favorite retailer ----- I use 4WheelParts because the guys that work there come camping with us, give us door prizes for my big events, and are part of our local wheeling/camping community. I also like SouthEast Overland, another company that supports us.
Ryan is a good part of this forum too; he deserves our support.

Thank you. I was confused as to why one side is wired differently but since these are preproduction maybe that will change.

The JKs are wired differently on each side. The third eye, wiper, & squirter are wired in that loom.
The connectors only work one way. You'll look at it, say "huh?", and then it will make sense.

So I hooked up my trailer this morning (taking it to work; leaving from work early to camp) and the trailer lights no workie.

hmmmmmm

Grabbed the screwdriver, popped off the driver's side tail light, unplugged it all and replugged a different way.
Same thing. Lights worked on Jeep but not trailer.

Scratched head(s), thunk it out a bit, unplugged and replugged a different way.
Bingo. Everything workie.

So I contacted Jason to include that in the instructions. That you can plug it all together, think it's right, but it ain't right...

People are loving them, btw. I've had a few JKs pull up next to me at a light, stare at them, and then stick their arms out and give a thumbs up. Went to 4WheelParts to have them torque my new lift a bit and the techs surrounded me with their cameras out. Customers too.

High quality, safe, legal, better than stock. Jeeps with good lighting. Who would've ever thought that would happen?

Waiting outside my window at work, ready to roll

Also the tow package is attached to the drivers side too.

I'm pretty sure that's where the confusion lies....

@Hilldweller any information on if the new 6150 fogs will be the same size as the 6145? I need to order the fog light brackets from Maximus for my Hard Rock, but before I do I want to be sure they new fogs are the same size. I'm assuming the only difference is they will have the anti flicker harness built in as well, correct?

Okay, you have tested them long enough. I think they need testing in the heat and humidity of the south. Send them on down.

I've just about talked myself out of those 8700 series headlights. Yes - they're nice. But are they $500 nicer than what else is out there? I just don't see it. Speaker makes nice stuff, but I think they've gotten a little too greedy with their price point. I've lost interest due to the ridiculous price. I'll settle for a tiny bit less nice for a LOT less money.

6145 and 6150 = functionally the same light; the 6150 is 4" and has a pedestal mount -- the 6145 is 4.5" and has tabs for most of the OE bumpers.
Not sure if the newer version will be anti-flicker or not; I pinged Jason and asked.
Mine flicker a little. You don't notice it while driving, only when you shine the light right on your garage door.

I appreciate your scientific concern.
...it's plenty hot and humid here though...

I feel ya.
Jason's been upgrading me along the way but my credit card took the hit on the first set. It's a tough decision; I'm not wealthy either.
But I've driven back to back with the big players, measured them, and when it came down to it, I had to have the best.
Face it. Crap happens on the road. I don't want to become highway pizza. maybe these lights have already paid for themselves by avoiding an accident.
You can never know what might've happened ---- but I drive between Canton and Alpharetta every day at oh-dark-thirty and the deer play chicken with me. So far so good....

Interesting. I wonder if the change in mount on the newer version would alleviate the need for the Maximus brackets for us 10A/X/Hard Rock guys. That would be great since they are $50 for mounts. Maybe I need to wait for more info before ordering the brackets.

I still like my JWS headlights. The beam pattern could be cleaner though. It would be nice if they refined the beam pattern just a little more and heck...make them even brighter while they are at it. Still, they are good enough to where I don't want to spend any more to upgrade.

My JK's EVO 2's are a world better than the Trucklites on my TJ. Beam fills the road nicely.

Yeah, I had both. The JWS light are definitely quite a bit better....mainly the beam pattern/design is better.

I heard back from Jason; the new 6145 foglights will have antiflicker built in like the 8700-J.
I'm also sending the tail lights back for an upgrade in the circuits.
...I love their attention to detail...

I can't wait for these tail lights to come out. looking good, I just hope the resistor doesn't need to be screwed into the body somewhere in the end.

On a side note, someone pointed out this today to me today - looks like the "J" is available to order now - but I thought these were supposed to be priced less....
