JWM Grille Insert for 75th Anniversary / Sahara JK

Good evening!

This past weekend I installed a JWM 4X4 Grille Insert on my 2016 75th Anniversary Edition Wrangler. I really love the quality, functionality and appearance!

As a way of giving back to the forum for all the great contributions that have helped me so much, here is a brief tutorial, as a minor modification is needed if you have a 75th Anniversary, Sahara, or Altitude Edition JK. It should apply to any factory grill that comes pre-equipped with those custom inserts (i.e., chrome or bronze trim pieces).

So, here's my little tutorial:

Step 1: Remove the factory front grill. If you're not sure how to do this, search YouTube for a tutorial, though it's really easy.

Step 2: Place the grill face-down on a soft surface (to prevent scratching). Observe the plastic "tabs" that are located between the grill slats.

Step 3: Using a pair of side-cutters, or a sharp knife, carefully remove those tabs. Removing them does not in any way compromise the integrity of the trim inserts (I'm guessing they're there for ease of assembly at the factory). Remove only enough material to make the plastic flush with the inner grill shell. There are also a few smaller tabs to cut flush along the bottom of the grill.

Step 4: After all the tabs are removed, install the JWM Grille Insert using the provided screws. All you need is a drill and a screwdriver. Easy!

Step 5: Re-install the grill and enjoy!

Please let me know if you have any questions! Thanks!

PS: This grille insert does NOT require a relocation of the air sensor.

PSS: My thanks to the JWM Customer Service folks, who answered all my questions before I bought the insert. Also, thanks to my fellow forum members for helping me decide on what to buy! Thanks again!

Thank you for posting this simple tutorial. I was on the fence about buying the JWM, but you just helped me decide that I will be buying it.

During my 4 week vacation across country, I ran into overheating issues in my 2016 JKUR. Primarily climbing out of Death Valley towards CA and the long climbs crossing the high sierras. Both times (and others), it was the long stretches of positive elevation changes at highway speeds. I removed my JWM grill insert and overheating issues went away.

I finally got around to installing the JWM grille insert on my 2016 Sahara today.

Besides trimming the tabs as shown above. I also had to trim the release tabs on the bottom of the inserts. Trimming is required for the grille to sit flush to the insert and to be able to be screwed into place as per the installation sheet.

Other than that, it looks just like rcosika's pictures.
