Send a message via AIM to Irongrave
what do you plan on doing with the rig. Flat fenders will clear 35s and metal cloak fenders will clear 37s on a stock rig.

Yes, they have the mopar 2" lift. If the dealers around there are anything like the ones here, they also have agreements with some of the off-road shops and get other brand lifts. The best thing to do is talk to your salesman or the after market guy.

Unless you happen to know somebody or for some other reason are getting a great deal, you don't want a lift from the dealership. You'll pay at least twice as much for both parts and the install, and get no extra benefit to go with the cost.

I worked out a deal with my dealer at the time of purchase for them to buy and install a 2 inch budget boost (coilspring spacers) as well as purchase my OEM wheels and tires.

Right. I don't know the specifics of your deal, but I'm presuming you fall into the "for some other reason are getting a great deal" crowd I mentioned.

In general, getting a dealer installed lift is a waste of money. Now, folks can of course CHOOSE to waste money because it's more convenient for them or for other reasons, but they should at least be aware that they're spending substantially more than they need to. If that's okay with them, then that's okay--but they should at least know it.

^ Yep.

The dealership here wanted $1600 to install a skyjacker $600 lift. Said it would take 8hrs of labor.

I expected this was the rationale.

No lift is covered under Chrysler's warranty, nor will Chrysler's warranty cover any damage the lift causes. It makes no difference who installs it or what brand of lift it is. Any dealer that tells you differently is confused or a liar. At most, the dealership itself (not Chrysler) will provide you with some sort of warranty. Of course, this would also be true of a reputable 4x4 shop (on the install) and a reputable brand of lift (on the product itself).

A 2" lift on an unlimited won't cause any damage if properly installed.

I had the dealer installed lift put on my new Rubi prior to delivery. It's especially designed by Chrysler to work with the JK, ann here's what "4WD Magaizine" (confirmed by my dealer) said about the kit:

We’ve listed the additional products that have been added to this Rubicon to make it the Trail Boss. Check out the photos and captions where we’ve explained each item more thoroughly for your consideration. One other thing we want to mention at this time; don’t think that you have to buy a new Rubicon in order to enjoy these improvements. If you already own a JK Rubicon (2007 to 2011) or are considering buying one, you can order these products at your local dealer and still enjoy the warranty that came with your Jeep. Plus, there is no Trail Boss accessory package, which means that you can order the products one item at a time (a la carte) or in selected groups.

Go here and download your Chrysler warranty for your 2011.

Do you see a provision for the "Trail Boss" kit? If not, do you have an addendum from Chrysler that modifies the terms of the warranty booklet?

If the answer to both of these questions is "no," then it's not covered. It makes no difference what the article or your dealer says.

If the article is accurate, I'd expect the second option (i.e., some piece of paperwork modifying your standard warranty) would have come with the install. Might want to head back to your dealer and ask if you don't have anything like that.

No. Just about the only thing that "voids" your warranty is odometer tampering.

The lift components themselves, and any damages they cause, simply will not be "covered" by your warranty. The warranty otherwise remains intact.

The lone exception may be the "Trail Boss" lift noted above by Ando88. But, as I said, unless he has something changing the terms of the standard factory warranty, even that is not covered nor is any damage that it causes.

There is a big difference between "voided" and simply "not covered." A lift may cause some things (i.e., any damage from the lift) to not be "covered." But the warranty isn't "void." Does that make sense?

Mopar lift

I just bought a 2012 Sahara. (just got it yesterday) I questioned the dealership about a lift and would it void my warranty. I was told that they would install a 2.5 or 4" Mopar lift into my jeep, and it would not void the warranty. ( as long as they install ) and then they add the informatiion into the data base to show that it was installed by a jeep dealership. no warrantee will be voided. Now I need to decide on what size to add.

None of that makes any sense or is true.

They get this question all the time, and this is how they answer it so as to persuade folks to pay them ridiculously inflated prices to install "Mopar" lifts.

The answer about "voiding" and so on is in this thread. Read above.

Congrats on your new jeep.

Hey Sean, what Mike said is true.
