Light Bar Help!

Hey Everyone,

I got myself a Red Rock 4x4 Light Bar for my '15 JK Sahara Unlimited and was hoping someone could help me out.

Is there any specific type of base I need to connect to the light bar?

And personal preference.... Is an LED light bar better or should I go with 4 KC type, circular ligths?

Thanks,

Andy

What do you mean by "base"? What size is the bar? If it's under a 50", where do you plan to mount it? Unfortunately your question was pretty vague and can go any number of directions with answers. As far as personal preference, I have a 50" across the windshield I use all the time coming through the darkest wooded spots around my house. I use the A pillar cubes for when it's a little foggy in those same areas. I've never used the KC style lights, but know a few ppl that do and they love them. It's a more old school look that some prefer. I'd like to swap out the A pillar cubes for round LEDs the more I look at them.

I thought that I had originally posted it was a 50" windshield mount. I posted that after a long day. My bad.

I'm also torn between the new look and the old school round "KC" type lights.

Also, the A-Pillar cubes, is the hook up the same as regular halogen lights? I was reading that in some LED conversions you need to install a capacitor. Is that something you're familiar with?

Well, if you want to put A pillars in as well, you'll need to get a double bracket (ie light bar and cubes). I'd contact Rick on here at Quadratec and tell him what you need/want. Make sure it sits flush with the top of the windshield. Any higher and you'll suffer from too much noise and you'll dread driving the Jeep. It will be a little more money overall for the bracket, but you'll appreciate it. As for the A pillars, I ran mine to my Spod. If you are going to wire a regular switch to the battery, you wont have to use any capacitor. As long as your not trying to tie them into let's say your fog lamp switch, you won't have to worry about the CANBUS system. I ran my light bar wire inside my A pillar channel and out into the engine bay through the firewall port. I ran the A pillar light wires under the wiper channel and into the engine bay. If your not doing any kind of switch pod and just need 2 switches, mount them at your left knee under the steering wheel. The firewall port is right behind there and makes it neat and easy to wire everything up.

Not to hi-jack this thread, but I need some help with a light bar answer as well! I'm a newbie, so bare with me.

I recently had my 50inch light bar stolen off my jeep (right in front of my house!). I ordered another 50 inch only to be sent the wrong one...so, after a couple of weeks of deliberating about it I have decided to go with a 20inch instead. I want to mount it above my winch on my bumper. Can anyone tell me what kind of brackets I need and where to find them?

Thanks in advance!

Try the X clamps by Rugged Ridge if the mounting studs are on top/bottom of the light. They've gotten a lot of good reviews and seem pretty user friendly.
