Looking for a fender thread

Does anyone know of a thread just on fenders? I've seen them for soft tops, bumpers, etc but have yet to locate any just on fenders. Would love to check it out for ideas. Thanks!

When I used the forum search tool just now I found 646 threads with the word "fender" in the title in the JK General Discussion forum. Go to the advanced search, type in keyword "fender", select "Search Titles Only" in the drop-down box and then select "JK General Discussion Forum" for the search area.

Thanks RoadiJeff for taking the time to do that search. I didn't realize about the advanced search unless I exit the Android view so I'll check it out. Seeing photos of other people's will definitely be helpful. What ones do you have and can you share a pic?

Our JK is my wife's DD and it has the stock fenders. She doesn't want much done to it and that's fine with me - it's her Jeep. The avatar pic is how it looks.

Remember that it's not only the "look", but how you need them to function.
A few things to keep in mind.
  • Does your state have laws for how far the tire can stick out past the fender?
  • Will you be wheeling rough terrain, mild or the mall?
  • What size tires/lift? Flat fenders, tall lift and small tires can make a Jeep look anemic.

I've run stock, cut factory and Poison Spyder. The last Jeep was Poison Spyder, they're beefy enough for the trail and look good IMO. Metalcloak also makes some nice one. I'm not a fan of the Amazon/eBay chinese fenders.

That's great info that I wouldn't necessary have taken into account. Trying to get ready for some of those trails I've seen for when I'm able to leave the state. (Health issues. Not because a probation officer won't let me.) Plus right now my fenders are that beautiful shade of sun bleached grey that I know you are jealous of. Seeing as I don't go to the mall am I still considered a mall crawler? I gotta find some trails near me, STAT.

Baby Blue Sound you changed your avatar! I always loved seeing your Jeep up on another's tire! New rig?

LOL

In the meantime you might try something like forever black on your factory fenders. LINK

If you plan on hitting the trail then definitely check out the beefier fenders like Poison Spyder or Metalcloak. They ain't cheap but they'll do their job on the trail.

I still drive the '14 (Brutus), my wife's '16 was wrecked and she replaced it with an '18 JK. My fenders also remain that lovely shade of faded grey.

I knew a guy a long time ago that collected rare Fenders. He had millions tied up in them.
He also owned the Batmobile and Batcycle from the TV show.
First World problem, no?

And I thought Jeep owners were the ones with an expensive addiction! So now that we're friends, tell me about YOUR fenders (Jeep only, I think guitars look silly attached above the tires).

So far I'm liking the thicker tubular look than the flats for my rig, but I do like them on other people's. Yes I realize it's not just about looks. What's the advantage?

Very nice! Just wondering, why choose aluminum over steel?

I just have stock fenders, 2.5" lift, 33s. I camp alot, hike, overland. If I ever do bugger a fender I'd probably stick with plastic.

I like the tube look but I have to admit that these are growing on me!

I chose the nemesis because i loved clean look they offer and they dont have them in steel. Steel rust while aluminum doesn't(well it oxidizes but thats not as bad in my opinion) and it weighs significantly less, and people who want to supercharge or dont want to weigh their jeep down usually go down that path. The nemesis with their skeletos is a very strong fender.

I'm running a set of the aluminum Bushwacker Poison Spyder knock offs. I'm not sure if they are even still available. They are an absolute 100% copy of the PS flares and even used the same instructions and pictures as the PS flares did. They fit great and included the same inner bracing. You could find a set for around $400 if you looked around. They were an amazing deal!
I haven't seen them around lately and everyone seems to be out of stock on them. I have a feeling that they were too exact a copy and something happened that ended their production. But that is just a guess..
The aluminum is great! I run some steel PS bumpers and some steel Rare Earth rock sliders but all my skids, fenders, and armor is aluminum. Very light compared to the steel counterparts and still extremely strong. Always consider weight... It's a big factor that effects mileage, performance on and off road and your suspensions ability to perform. Especially when that weight is high up on the jeep like the fenders are.

I've also been toying with the idea for now of the DIY mod and just cutting them myself, then hit them with some Forever Black. Aside from cutting off a finger or two, what's the worst that can happen? They look like hell, all the other Jeepers laugh at me, and I go buy new ones at that time. I do enjoy a good DIY!

I used to work for a company that was owned by one of Her Majesty's Knights of the Realm. Lots of her subjects working there and I picked up slang from every corner of the globe.
Aussies cuss the best but the English have some colorful expressions. Bugger. Not really a nice word but descriptive.
