Looking for ideas when going carpetless in front

So like just about everyone, i too have battled the leaking doors over the last 3 years. I honestly had never removed my mopar slush mats in 3 years, until yesterday. I then found that the passenger side floorboard had a good 1/4 or more standing water, just a good soaking on the drivers side. So out comes the carpet, crazy, i mean, crazy wet. I'm all dry and now liking the no carpet thing. Am looking for suggestions on keeping slush mat in place, and maybe not melting, lol. Not sure what i'm in for, but am loving the no carpet thing moving forward.:bop:

i'm liking what i'm hearing. i drove it today for the first time and the mat seemed fine. If anything, i'm more concerned about heat. read somewhere over the weekend, a suggestion to epoxy the original plastic holders from the carpet to the floor, then just clip in the mat. I may think about that. Didn't know if adding something to bottom of mat might help if needed.

Did you have to take your seats out to get the carpet out? I’m headed that way soon. Mainly to make it easier to get the dogs hair out.

No. took mine out without removing seats. Might have to cut a slit for the seat bolt holes but way better than removing the seats. Trust me. Those bolts were torqued by Paul bunyan.

I've run tray liners for years without carpet. They can slip around but never melted to the floor. Might have to try attaching the carpet hook thing. Also pulled the drain plugs under the liners so there will never be standing water.

I rhino lined my tj many years ago and loved that. Might go back and get that done, but I’m liking the idea of the dog hair blowing out when I drop the top. I wanna pull the carpet but the JK is a Cadillac compared to my tj so thought I’d pull it temporarily and make a decision. Already pulled the carpet in the back.

I'm wanting to keep my carpets intact, so i just bought these for 1.62 each. I want to epoxy/glue them to my floor. Any product recommendations for glue or epoxy that would be bomb would be appreciated. I'm going to cut off the threaded bottom so its just the flat part i guess. Would be cool to find this in metal. I might drill and then bolt them down thru the floor if i could find the right product.

Same here as others. I just pulled the carpet, use the Jeep slush mats. They are pliable enough and just sticky enough where they sit in place. If you throw all of your body weight on your feet getting in or out, they may slip, but it's never bothered me. LOVE just wiping dust up and it's great with leaks or rain getting in.

Just pull the plugs and towel dry. I did tape some of the wires that were a bit to loose and dangling for my taste.

I took the carpet out and replaced it with Bedrug. It looks like carpet but doesn’t hold water and never feels wet. I also leave one front plug out on each side all the time unless I’m anticipating mud or water on a trail. I found the part numbers for the OEM mat clips in another post on this forum and ordered online. I like the Bedrug a lot better than the carpet or no carpet and it comes with heat shield. I didn’t like the loose mats especially concerned that they move and might get into the pedals while on a steep switchback someplace. If I were going to try to glue the clips to the metal floor I would first try 3M 4200 glue and if that didn’t hold 3M 5200 glue, both work well on my boat.
