At the dealer for the 5th time for the same leak in the same spot can watch the water roll over the bottom of the door fram just aft of the front edge when it rains, seems to be hard to fix, On my fourth loaner car this time all weekend from thursday. Been told here its a manly off road machine engineered for greatness over large boulders if you want leak free buy a (name your "foo foo" suv) but your cahones will shrink to the size of mustard seeds if you do.

On the first picture, you can see where it leaked for me. Then, you see the good way of placing the rubber part on the upper door seal. The last picture shows the rubber like it was on my jeep before I fixed it (leaking). This was my leaking problem and when I fixed it (by removing and replacing the plastic part rolling the rubber), I now have a leak-free wrangler. (Yay!)

Hmm well mine is leaking in from the bottom of the door. Either that or it is coming through the top and staying in the door frame until it gets to the bottom. Im dropping the Jeep off tomorrow morning so I'll keep those interested posted on how everything turns out.

Just got my 2010 back from being at the dealer for a week. It is the 4th time in for a leak. Mine was leaking at the pass. side bottom, driver side bottom, rear tailgate and driver side rear door. I have had the rear tailgate gasket replaced twice, the gasket on the pass side replaced once, the drivers side adjusted once and now all of the doors and gate was adjusted and the carpets removed and cleaned of mold.

I am to the point that if this does not fix the issue, I will have to get serious and see about lemon law. My 2010 was bought in April of 2011 and only had 7k miles.

I have a 2010 JKU soft top. I got it in early Feb and I had it at the dealer about 4 times for leaks on passenger front floor driver floor and rear left.

They replaced the door seals and a few other seals the first three visits and the fourth time they did front door seals again and they also adjusted the position of the front doors. That worked and I have it had any since.

Good luck!

Sorry, Ive been busy with summer classes. Any ways, I got the Jeep back on wednesday. The repair order listed about $100 worth of parts. Im not sure where I left the invoice so I can't give the exact parts that were replaced. They guy said they did a leak test and it was leaking from the top right of the door then through the door seal down into the floor board. My guess is they replaced the weather stripping to help with a tighter seal. The next time I get some time I'm gonna wash it and see if it still leaks. Hopefully its all fixed up! Oh, and it was covered by warranty. so thats great!

Thanks for all the help and advice!

They might have put the stiffener in it's you can't tell if they did by feeling the door seals at the top. It will be thicker. So far on mine, they did the stiffener, both front top seals, something along the inner firewall, & scratch the hell out of mi jeep.

Good luck!

Bought my first New Wrangler Unlimited last year. 2011 Hard Top 4 Door. Had it three month, when we discovered the front passanger side floor was wet. Took it into the dealership, got it back the nextday, "All fixed looks like the seal wasnt sitting right". One month later after a heavy down pour...wallla more water. 2nd time back to the dealership. Held Jeep for 3 days. Replaced door seal. Three days later after another down pour...Bingo more water. 3rd time back to dealership 7 days go by, part on order, pick up vehicle after it was fixed. I checked with a water hose. No leak. Two weeks later on I81 heavy downpour, looked over and....wow more water. I pulled over and called the dealership. Took pictures with cell phone and emailed them to the dealership. 4th time back to the dealership. They wanted to keep the vehicle for a day or two to "figure it out". Thats when I came across this site. Read a couple of threat and waited. I got the call, the Jeep is fixed. Picked it up that night just before closing. Got home, pulled the garden hose and let it run for over twenty minutes. To my surprise>>>water! 5th time I dropped the Jeep off back to the dealership the next morning. Oh to there surprise, I'm back. They held the Jeep for 9 days. Had to fly in someone from HQ. Got the call its fixed! Got home, checked with hose, no leaks. OMG its fixed. Nope I was wrong water still came just slower. I take it in on Monday, will be the 6th time. In the mean time got a lawyer, faxed all the work orders. Now I sit and wait. Oh BTW, Hi All!

2 weeks at the dealer and it is back again!

Went to pick up my jeep this morning and it had puddles in the back, leaks in the tower and went carpet in the front. The dealership is just stumped.

I finally decided to call my case manager back and I think they have had it too. There has been about 5k in repairs to my jeep and still no fix. I told her today that I was a patient man, but I am losing my patients quickly. I mentioned lemon and that I really did not want to get a lawyer involved. She said she was calling the dealer to see what they can work out.

Anyone been through this? What is next? How does this work?

Any help is appreciated
Mick

Thanks! Great thread but mine is not leaking there. It seems to be at the door sill on the passenger side, the tower on pass side and the same on the driver front.

They replaced the seals on everything including the freedom tops and it is still leaking bad. I am going to forward the info to my guy at the dealership, just so he can check that too.

thanks

Thanks,

I may mention that to my service guy. They even have in the notes sent to Chrysler that the leak moves each time they fix it. LOL I do not think I have ever heard someone actually say "Oh My" when reading notes about a vehicle LOL... my case manager did LMAO I think some is really wrong with my Jeep

You are not alone. I picked up my brand new JKU on Thursday evening and drove it home in the heaviest rain we have had here for some time. When I got home the passenger side floor was saturated. The carpet was almost floating yet there was no sign of any water entering the vehicle.

It's going back to the dealer tomorrow. I hope this isn't going to be an on going thing.

Just to clarify. When I say passenger side I mean left side. I'm in Australia.

Just got off the phone with Chrysler and my case manager told me, "Looks like they cannot fix your Jeep, but the service manager said he could not do anything and for me to look in my Lemon Law booklet for more help." I told the lady that this was between Chrysler and me, not the service manager and she said she did not know waht to tell me.

I called hte Florida Att. General and they actually have a program there where they hold your hand and walk you through everything. And I was informed that CHrysler doe not send lawyers to arbitration in Florida, they send a worker from the Orlando office.

Before filing a claim and sending in that paperwork to Chrysler, I decided to call the dealership and talk to the guy Chrysler put on the hot seat and we had a long talk and he basically said it was out of his hands and I agreed. He did however say he thought he had the leaks figured out. He is going to keep it one more day then see what happens. If I get it back and it is fixed, I will be happy!!!!! If I get it back and it leaks, I will file paperwork and Chrysler will have ten days to try and fix it.

I have to admit, the dealership has been really cool and they have tried and tried to fix the issue. It has to be a design flaw ...has to be.

Will post updates!

My Jeep is in for the 10th time. I explained to the service rep that my Jeep after an hour of rain. He didnt believe me, so I showed him the video. Right at the 49 minute mark you can see water pooling along the bottom of the passanger door, then it spilled over onto the floor. Yesterday the dealership call saying they need to hold onto the vehilce and get "guidance" for chrysler. The last three times they told me they cannt recreate the leak.

I got with a lawyer after my 4th attempt to get it fixed, Kimmel & Silverman. Last week they sent a letter stating it in court right now for discovery and that chrysler has 14 days to respond.

The lawyer told me until the issue is settled, Im to keep taking the Jeep back everytime it starts to leak and if I can take pictures with date and time stamped.

I now have a mountain of pictures and paperwork. I just hate buying a $37,000 vehicle with these problems.

With the Lemon Law nothing comes out of your pocket, money wise. Look into it and good luck! PS. Dont wait...time can be your enemy.

Well that is just crazy about leaking after an hour. But it is good to know. I have almost a year left to make a claim and if it is not fixed this time, I will be doing just that. Enough is enough! I think I have been very patient and I am about done. I guess we will see after I get the jeep back today (if I get it back today)

Thanks for the info and also, where are you located? I a curious if I do have to do this if I should use the attorney general or hire a lawyer.

Thanks and good luck,
Mick

Got my jeep back this morning and so far no leaks. They said they readjusted all the seals. We will see what happens. They told me they have no idea what else to do should it leak again.

I am going to hold off and see what goes on during this storm we are about to get hit with. If it is going to leak, it will do so during this storm.

Fingers crossed!

more leak info

My 2 cents. Had an '11 soft-top, in for leaks 8 times, still no fix, many issues, new leaks after dealer 'fixed' others. Got a '12 soft-top , 6 mos later wet pass. floor. BUT Not in every rain. http://www.wranglerforum.com/images/smilies/nonono.gif

Did snooping.... I park going 'down-hill'. looked like it was coming into the car at where the pass door meets the foot well, exactly where the 'v-notch' is on the bottom of the door opening. I assuming this notch is to handle water run off. Observed the flexible foam seals that meet at the top of the door frame by the windshield had 'moved', whether by heat and/or putting top up or down. My thought here was that it allowed much more rain to enter the door frame drainage system then designed for. I repositioned those to better cover the outward edge of the area they sit in. Bottom line. It seems that as water is channelled down inside the door frame when it rains, this 'notch' cannot handle a heavy rain or large amount of water and then the 'back-up' then runs up over the lip and into the foot well.

Dont know if this is something faulty, or is the door surround seal to 'tight' against the door frame and not letting the water escape via the notch as designed, or because of the mis-aligned foam letting to much water in the drain system.

Bad design on those pieces of flexible sticky foam, to much heat/wind etc and they 'move' easy.
