MaxCare Policy Change

Sneaky bastards.
Had an MIL and brought the heep in for service under MaxCare again. Informed that loaner car coverage now expires at 100,000 miles.
"but but it didn't when I bought the policy...."
Well it does now. But that's the only thing that's changed in your policy, sir.
"but but that was one of the selling features of MaxCare for me, one of the reasons I bought it...."
Sorry. No loaner car for you.
At least the dealer has an old dude that gave me a ride back to the lab and will pick me up later.

@JeepCares stops caring so much at 100,000 miles.

...and I don't fit in the dang JL. What to do, what to do....

Amputation? Nothing drastic.... maybe a little off the bottom-middle?

Is there a time restriction too?

Like 10 years/100k ? Or is it just 100k ?

Did you read your policy to make sure that clause was not in there already? I'm not sure they can change what you bought into. I got my plan in 2015 and it does state that the loaner program ends at 100k miles. I read through my policy carefully and there are no clauses in it that allow them to change the terms from what is written.

Yeah, my policy is older and the woman on the phone said that they did change it.
I'd have to dig out the policy from wherever my wife buried it to check further.

I've probably put more miles on the loaner cars they've given me than you have on your Jeep.

I had a motorcycle once that had a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty. They started crying when I got past 120,000 miles and it was still covered.

Can’t wait to see how many other bs things they change sooner than later. If it wasn’t in original contract, not sure how they change for you? Binding legal agreement.

EXACTLY! My 2015 contract has NO clause in it stating that they can change anything at all.

I'm thinking the OP has the 100k mile limitation in his contract, or the dealer is sadly mistaken.

It's really important to keep a copy of your contract in the vehicle at all times.

Warranties. True work of the Devil. LOL

But seriously, your agreement is only as good as the depth of your wallet to fight for it.

Probably because their entire rental fleet has TIPMs on backorder?? Not enough cars to go around...

It's possible that my contract says 100,000 miles and I never noticed it ----- I skimmed it with the dealership F&I guy at the dealership when I bought it. I know I asked him about mileage restrictions since I tend to go far afield when I overland. So he either didn't know or he lied.
But the woman on the phone did say it had changed. Whether she meant my policy or MaxCare since its inception, I don't know.

That's why you need to find your copy of the contract, read it and then keep it in the glovebox...... If there's no such 100k mi restriction on yours, and no clause that they are allowed to change the terms of the agreement, you have a winning argument.

I'm thinking that your contract will have the 100k mi limit though, as mine does...........

One note of interest..... The MaxCare contract is written pretty straight forward, with a minimum amount of "legalese". 10 minutes of reading and you should know all there is to know about it.

You can find it on Mopar.com if you have or create an account.

FYI my lifetime Maxcare contract purchased back in 2009 had a 7 year 100K mile limit for roadside assistance and rental vehicles.

Your contract cant be changed once purchased.
However the can change them for new purchases.

For example my "old contact" does not cover the remotes (keyless entry). The new one (2016) does. Im sure they have also added exclusions.
They do change often so need to know your personal contract to know whats covered.

Yep, they hated me as well. Nothing better than walking out and after 45 days still no monthly payment. People pay monthly payments on everything now because in this country there’s that sense of entitlement, I “deserve” it. I’d much rather drive something else while saving up and pay cash when ready than financing regardless of interest rate. Just completely different feeling. Reason I’ll probably not buy lifetime contract. Get to choose my own mechanic.

My contract doesn’t show up at Mopar.com

Edit: Nevermind, I found it. Exp. 2098 at 999,999 miles with a $100 deductible.

Mine shows with the following paragraph on page 2 of the contract:

TRIP INTERRUPTION, FIRST DAY RENTAL/CAR RENTAL ALLOWANCE, TOWING, KEYFOB REPAIRS AND REPLACEMENTS, AND ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE EXPIRE AT 7 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, WHICHEVER OCCURS FIRST.

Thanks, @JeepCares -----
Lessons:
1) read the plan
2) don't trust the F&I guy
3) the CSR on the phone might not give accurate info

Hilldweller,

I 100% understand your point of view, there are several of avenues that are available.
We have a Alternate Transportation Plus thats available for 2008 model year and newer for vehicles with no more than 125,000 miles. This plan will give you up to 5 days of rental or cover first day rental. So basically the same terms as the service contract. Or you could go with a Customer Convenience Package or Motoring Assistance Package.

Customer Convenience:
Roadside
Towing
Firstday rental
Rental Allowance
Trip Interruption
Road Hazard

Motoring Assistance Package:
Roadside
Towing
Firstday rental
Rental Allowance
Trip Interruption
Key Fob Repair/Replacement

Just to throw some ideas out there for those that are over 100K and 2008 and new..

**The plans listed above only apply to vehicles that are 2008 model year and newer with no more than 125,000 miles**
