mileage after picking up JK from maintenance

Say, I usually don't take my Jk to the dealer for simple stuff like oil change. Simple stuff I can do it myself since I get stressed leaving it on other hands unless it is stuff I can't do due to knowledge or equipment.

Well, I took the ride to the dealer for replacing a seal on one of the rear wheels that was leaking and might as well do the oil change and transmission change.
The jk stayed there for 4 days, so the when I pick it up I noticed that my distance reads 18 miles more.

I raised my concern and they told me it was for testing that everything was ok. But 18 miles I thought that was lot for just testing driving. Am I being too picky on this?

"Road test" means lunch runs for 4 days.

18 miles really isn't alot. You just didn't go in for an oil change, they had to replace an axle seal. Test driving it for approx. 18 miles would bring everything up to temperature and would be a good test to make sure it's not leaking. Maybe they did a lunch run or two like daggo said. It still had to be properly tested. I wouldn't have an issue with 18 miles. 50, most likely.

Agree with Kik. If anything that's really what should be done every time a repair of this nature is done as you're much less likely to have a recurrence from a thorough test drive. Usually it's just the opposite where the tech is flat rate and doesn't want to take the extra time for a proper test drive. I'd bet in this case the tech test drove it followed by a QC test drive by another guy that is considerably longer (and likely that guy's primary job) to make sure it's fixed so they don't get a bad survey from you on a warranty repair.

I bet they took it to the strip club to do a drug deal. You might want to check and make sure there are no little baggies and used condoms laying around before your significant other finds them.

Don't sweat it dude, that's no biggie. Like the others have said they can't just take it for a quick spin around the block and hand it over to you saying "all fixed sir"... not for an axle seal replacement anyways. Let's say they pop in the new seal, park it in the lot and call it done... you come along, jump in your baby and guess what? You park it in your driveway and notice it's leaking again... now you're really PO'd right? They're just doing their job. Hope this helps.

I dropped my truck off at the dealer once and something told me to take a picture of the odometer so I did. Glad I did!

1. Truck reeked like smoke
2. Cinnamon danish smooshed into the seat
3. Personal magazines in the back seat
4. 200 miles added to the odometer
5. Looked like they took it off roading

They denied using it over the weekend. Went to the GM and was offered a free detailing and tank of gas. Every time I asked for the detailing he had excuses not to do it and only got a tank of gas....

18 miles sounds reasonable considering the type of repairs they did. I recently had my Ram 3500 in for some emissions warranty work and they did a 30 mile freeway test to get it up to operating temp to make sure everything was fixed properly. At least the dealer warned me up front.
