Angry Mopar Stand alone mic isn't hearing me!!!

So, I have a 2008 JKU with the 730N head unit. I bought and installed my Mopar Stand alone mic. (very simple install) however, when I place a phone call, I can hear them but they cannot hear me. When I hit the VR button on the upper right side of the head unit, I hear her talking and giving me my options. I speak which option I want, but it isn't recognizing my voice at all. She just keeps repeating the options.

I should note, that THANK GOD I tested the mic before I put the dash back together but while testing I had the microphone on the dash, I tried holding it, everything.
I looked at my Build Sheet and while it says I have the U-connect Radio with Nav. It doesnt specifically say I have the "Connectivity Package". If I indeed do NOT have that, why can I make phone calls? I can stream music and everything. Just the mic isn't hearing me at all.

Can someone help me?

If the build sheet says you have the radio with nav, why did you have to buy a stand alone mic? There should have been a factory mic behind the trim at the top of the A pillar.

If this is a 2008 and you're asking the question, I assume you just recently acquired this Jeep. Did it have the 730N radio in it when you got it? Is it possible that it was built at the factory with a 430N and the previous owner replaced it with a 730N for some reason? If so, the original u-connect module may still be installed, which is separate for the 430 but built into the 730, and is causing issues since you would now have 2 u-connect modules competing with each other.

As mentioned by @dwtgolden, the 730N comes with the uConnect Phone feature built-in. You don't need (and can't use) the external uConnect Phone module that's included as part of the Connectivity Package.

I, too, have to ask, why did you buy a new mic? And when you installed it, where exactly did you plug it in? Directly into the back of the 730N, or possibly elsewhere?

Since my post, I did some more checking.

Do you have a RER or a RHR? What I said above, is really meant for the 730N RHR.

In my reading, I see that the Mopar Standalone Mic is for the older RER version of the 730N. Also, I see that it mentions "Dealer Scan Tool required for activation", which is what we like to call here having your dealer "flash" your vehicle (like also done for the rear camera activation).

If you don't want to have your dealer activate it (big $$$ ?), you might be able to use the Jscan smartphone app, and try to activate the HFM uConnect Handsfree value.

The build sheet states 730N. I acquired the Jeep a little over a month ago and after asking questions on here, I was told that mine only needed a mic since I already had the U-Connect module from the factory. So that is what i bought from JeepWorld.com. It is a factory Mopar replacement. I then watched the YouTube videos as suggested on the install of the MyGig mic for my Jeep.
I'm just clueless at this point. I thought i had done everything right. I'm hoping just the mic is bad. They are sending me another one.

I plugged it directly into that back of the head unit as suggested.

I would have thought that any Jeep with the 730N factory equipped would have had the connectivity group since uconnect is built into the 730N. Looking at your build sheet, your Jeep has the 23G package. Looking online I've seen various posts as to what that includes, but found a window sticker from a 2013 that says 23G is the connectivity package, so not sure if that would have been true in 2008 or not.

Does your Jeep have a USB plug in the center console and radio controls on the steering wheel? If so, it should already have a mic from the factory.

Apparently if you had a place to plug the mic you bought into the stereo, the factory mic wasn't connected if it exists.

Wish I could give you a solid answer, but good luck with getting it working.

Yes, I have to USB port on the front of my head unit. No steering wheel buttons at all. I just went out and looked on my A-pillar. NO MIC there or on the back of the Rear View mirror.

As I mentioned above, it seems to depend on if his 730N is the older RER, or the newer RHR.

The Mopar mic, which is for the RER, requires a "flash" to activate.
