Morris 4X4 Purchase FUBAR'ed Again

Rant: This is the second time I have attempted to buy parts from this company to no avail because they cant seem to make clear whether they actually have parts or not. Yes, I contacted them. I guess questions like do you have it? and is there a forum discount? are difficult to answer with a simple yes or no. Spending money shouldn't require so much energy and time.

northridge has without a doubt the best online availability tracker. It is up to the minute availability of any part. If someone buys it in the store or online, it is subtracted in real time, not 30 days later when they ge around to doing inventory. ANd its pretty rare they dropship, but if they do, you know before you buy so if the supplier is out of stock, you will know before you pay. 10 orders and 21 products to date. Zero issues.

Quadratec has a yellow flag on a part not in stock with the words "Shop in-stock items" when the item is not currently in stock and above the flag the estimated date they will get it in.

Years ago before they revamped their site, they did not show if an item was out of stock, but their customer service was very helpful and it's actually a live person.

Okay, A gentleman from the sales department Joseph Cruz is working with me. He offered to help through the forum. This is the email that started it all: Re: Dear Valued Customer, We were notified by the manufacturer that some of the merchandise that you ordered is on back order. We will make every attempt to ensure that your product is delivered to you in a timely manner. Of course, you may choose to cancel your order at this time, or select a substitute item. If this is the case, please let us know.CROWN BRAKE LINES ETA TO SHIP 3-4 DAYS (MADE TO ORDER) When the product is in stock the manufacturer will fill your order and send it directly to you. We will email you the tracking information from the manufacturer as soon as it is received. The shipping methods may differ by manufacturer but your order will be shipped as soon as product is available. We apologize for this inconvenience.Sincerely,Customer Service TeamMorris 4x4 Center2031 SW 2nd StreetPompano Beach, FL 33069877.553.JEEP (5337)Fax 954.943.0346http://www.morris4x4center.com It was a very long day going back and forth. 6 round trip emails and two phone calls trying to get this sorted out. And, the fact that I'm sharing this crap with you all has shown me that I need to get a life. We'll see what happens.

I had a very long lead delivery times and vague availability as well with Morris. Joe was very helpful, but it was a tedious process.

Northridge - Some of my recent orders stated 3-5 days delivery time they were weeks off of that. I cancelled an order for one item a few months ago and am just about to cancel another as this one is going on 3 weeks of waiting. I am learning that if it is not in stock on the Northridge site, don't bother unless you have the patience of a Saint. If it is in stock, it gets to me in two days. Customer service again, is great.

I have come to the personal opinion that vendors are at the mercy of their suppliers when it comes to items that might not be on the shelves. With that, I see how some products rise to the top from having sheer availability alone.

Is it worth the frustration to be "that different" or should one maintain patience?

It really annoys me too when websites sell things that they are ordering from a vendor and don't actually stock. They really should at least tell you that is what they are doing up front. Can't believe they didn't tell you this up front on the phone.

Iíve had great experience with Morris. They were always up front if they had in stock what I needed.

I suppose your mileage will vary.

Never heard of a forum discount with them. Do they offer one?

It can be maddening. I've only dealt with 3 places online. ET, QT and 4WP. I've had great customer service from the last 2 and only ordered once from the other. 4WP seems to have a much larger inventory so they can ship from whichever of their locations have it. The downside, I have to pay tax where I don't with QT. Neither has dropped the ball on me yet. I usually try to give QT the first shot, but their lag time on PM responses usually drives me to 4WP and paying tax, if I want it quick.
On a side note, the absolute best service I've had are from Tuffy and Bestop. Both have earned a loyal customer through their ability to take care of their customers.

krawloffroad. I've had nothing but great experiences with them. They are upfront and clear about timing, fair in pricing, and very helpful even after the sale. Just my 2 cents though.

I bought from several venders on this forum and never had any major problems. Think about the number of orders these guys process, and I see mostly positive feedback on all of them. The small issues I had were quickly resolved. The best thing about owning a JK/JKU is that we have many choices.

Yeah... I dunno....
The last time I attempted to use Northridge, it was over a 5.13 gear upgrade "KIT". There was nothing there about anything not being in stock. As I was finishing up the order form it told me this "kit" was going to be shipped from 3 different sources.... and I was going to get dinged on shipping charges as 3 separate orders. Figure that one out!?! Needless to say... I bought from somewhere else.

Of course I'm in Canada and shipping charges are a big issue for us. They can easily end up costing as much as the item itself if you're not careful. If I have a big order I'll just drive to the border and pick it up and avoid shipping charges all together, but for the most part I now avoid shops like extreme terrain, Quadratech, Northridge... etc, and just do it on amazon or ebay. They at least keep there shipping charges down to a reasonable number and offer estimated shipping charges UP FRONT without having to key in all your info (and credit card... hint, hint Quadratech)

Well shut my mouth, I take it all back. I got my custom made to order braided SS brake lines that I ordered late last Thursday night from Morris in the mail today. Kudos to Joe Cruz from the sales department. He made it happen in light speed mode. Morris 4X4 came through after all the whining and bitching I put em through. It took only 2 1/2 days on a weekend to receive my junk. I will definitely buy from them again.

I ordered mine directly from Crown to be sure I got exactly what I wanted. For custom work I prefer to leave out the middleman.

This whole thread was about you complaining that your brake lines need time to be custom made and were in stock in the shelf?

Am I missing something?

Maybe you should read it.

The manufacturer had some parts back ordered for your custom made brake lines.

I'm failing to see how this is a Morris4x4 problem.

Are you expecting Morris to have accurate inventory of custom parts at Crown?

I ordered my 2.5 JKS JSPEC lift kit from them with Fox shocks and it was a mess. My kit arrived with the wrong shocks and Morris didn't seem to care.

After no contact for over two weeks from Morris I ended up having to contact Fox/JKS directly to get it taken care of and it took me a month to get the correct shocks. JKS/FOX were great once they got involved but I never heard anything from Morris on the issue so needless to say I won't be ordering from them again.

I've since ordered from Extreme a bunch without issue.

Do you remember who you dealt with? I always deal with Joe Cruz and he always has beat any price I've given him and has always come through. Bumpers. warn winch, air compressor......never a problem. That sucks, I hate waiting for parts! I always call direct and ask for him.

Yeah, not a dead horse at all.

You already said you whined and bitched to Morris, about a problem with Crowns inventory supply for custom parts.

I was just making sure I understood how unreasonable you were being.
