Need a soft top recommendation

Hello everyone,

Today I bought a 2010 Rubicon JK and will need to purchase a soft top since it only came with the 3-piece hard top. I've been reading through some of the soft top threads and am still unclear what to get.

Sorry to be a bit vague, but can someone make a couple recommendations? I'm looking to spend $500-$1,000 on something that has a fairly easy installation process and comes with any necessary hardware. Perhaps one of the frameless tops?

Thank you in advance,

CJ

P.S. One other <possibly stupid> question...Do I need 2 people to remove the entire 3-piece hard top, or can one person manage that?

I just installed the soft top today on my 2015 JKUR. It was not difficult at all. Just need to do it when the weather is warm so the top will stretch.

Yes you need two people to remove the hardtop. One person is asking for trouble.

I went with the OEM soft top. I had experience with it from my other jeeps and I always liked them. I was also able to get a brand new one from a friend for a song.

That will run you about twice what you are looking to spend though.

This is my third Jeep and the first with a premium soft top. If you can track one down for anywhere close to your budget, it is well worth the money.

I also really like the look of the Trektop NX.

Warning:

If you decide to go the used route, just make sure you get all of the components that go with it. Many on this forum have complained of missing brackets, side channels, screws and even windows.

Good luck.

Thanks for the information everyone. Do the frameless tops usually require any hardware?

That is absolutely the case. The brackets were installed in the jeep that I got the top from. Luckily I knew to check that because of this forum. Otherwise I would have been out of luck. Those brackets are installed on the Jeeps that come with the dual top option. They have to be removed separately. But it only takes about 2 minutes.
