New 2011 JKU Owner (First Jeep)

Well I finally took the dive and purchased a 2011 Natural Pearl Green JKU. It came with the 17" Wheels and soft top, 6sp. This is my first Jeep, and I have seen many threads about first mods and I am still searching through all the links, but any advice is appreciated. I am thinking wheels and tires might be my first change.

my first purchase was mirror relocation brackets and side step bar's. Mine was base and did't have the side steps. It looked like something was missing. Looks more complete now. I bought black bars to go with my black jeep.

You came to the right place to find your answers, the men and women here are great and hanging around here will get your answers, I do a lot of searches the threads for the stuff I want for my Jeep and then decide. Before you buy wheels and tires think about the offroading you will or will not do and if you want to lift it someday. I changed wheels and tires before really looking at the rocks on the trails I will run, some I will bottom out on and wish I had looked at this sooner. Just my 2 cents, and enjoy your Jeep, Love the natural green pearl.

NICE COLOR CHOICE!! I am partial of course, cause I have the same color. My first mod was to remove those stupid head rests on the back seat; they block too much of the rear view. I only have a hard top, so my first $$ mod may be a soft top. A close runner up is a lift... so many mods so little time! Welcome

My dealer offered new sneakers for life as long as I get PMed at their dealership. So, the first set of sneakers should be on them. But, just in case they do not come through on that offer, I'm already lining up what I want. My first choice, so far, is found within a post by user tysalem here. One important thing to check out about his tire/wheel choice is the "stance" of the jeep. It is important for two major reasons: 1 tire width; and 2 wheel back spacing. The combination that he chose, I think, looks great on a jeep. The 15" wheels provides good protection against shots to the wheel, and possible dents, when aired down as it increases the distance that a rock would have to protrude into the tire to make it to the wheel enough to dent it. So, this is just one example, there are hundreds with pictures on this forum. Good luck with your choices.

BTW, welcome to WranglerForum.

Around here, it didn't happen unless you post pictures, so what does this new jeep look like?

Remember to wave to other jeepers just in case you are wondering why other jeepers keep waving at you.

This forum is friendly and you should find lots of great help with your jeep here.

Most of all, have fun with that new jeep and don't be afraid to get it dirty!

The Jeep came with the factory black sidesteps, but the mirror relocation kit may be a quick mod as well, I want to try and build a rack for my doors as well, since they will go on and off as the weather changes. Thanks for all the welcomes.

and I was told about the wave, not by the dealer, but by other friends who have Jeeps, but no one has waved back yet. Lots of older Jeeps around here, so I will chalk that up to those guys not believing that the JKU is a real Jeep, as I have seen on multiple threads, but that won't stop me from waving every time I see them.

Welcome and congrats on your new ride. First mod I did was the stubby bumper kit and that's it so far. I just made 1000 miles so I can't wait to get new stuff. The next thing I want to get are some skid plates especially for the evaporator. I figured protection first and then the rest as it breaks wears out or I just need to because of how I wheel. Good luck and have fun. PS keep waving it will catch on

Nice looking jeep. I get almost 100% wave back but I wave in a way that is hard for folks to ignore. I've made a science of the wave and over time my response percent has gone way up. It also helps that I live in a pretty rural area. I have found that the more populated areas seem to not produce such a high percentage. Maybe with my massive winch and roof rack, I'm getting some additional respect? Don't know...but I try hard to get a response on the wave.
