New JK and forum member...

Hello everyone,

Just bought my wife a 2015 Hydro Blue Willys 2 Door the other day for her birthday. I've been lurking on this forum for quite a while and it's been very informative. Thought I should finally join!

I've already started modding it out. So far, over the weekend I installed a 2.5" Teraflex lift kit and there are 35" tires going on today. Ordered some Barracuda rock sliders, new antenna, Grabars, sofft top coming, Smittybuilt front bumper and Smittybuilt 9500 winch. I have a feeling this is going to be an expensive hobby. Funny, I had a 92 Wrangler years ago and I didn't feel the need to do all this crap to it then. But, now, I can't seem to leave this Jeep alone!

Anyone else have the Smittybuilt Atlas front bumper? I put it on last night and I'm not entirely happy with the fit. It's slightly higher on one side then the other, but the real issue I'm having is that it has about a 1.5" gap from the back of the bumper to the front of the grill. I looked at the attatchment point and it's completely snug. The ones I see online don't seem to have this gap? Anyone have any experience with this bumper?

The other issue I have is my dumb ass decided it would be a good idea to install the bumper and winch wihtout first WIRING the winch. I fiigured I could easily see all the connection points so it would be no big deal to wire later. WRONG! Yeah, it all went to plan except for one little connection. Smittybuilt decided it would be a great design feature to put the negative connection post on the bottom of the winch! Genius! That way if the winch is installed you can't get to it AT ALL! Well, I guess that's a bit of an exaggeration. If you use a crawler, get under the Jeep and strain/pop your neck muscles you can just get a wrench on that little bastard, but...then you have to be able to put it back on which is impossible. So, yeah, going to be taking the entire bumper off so I can remove the winch and attach that one cable.

Does anyone know if it would be okay to attach the negative wire from the battery to another connection point on the winch or forget the battery and just go from another winch connection point to the Jeep?

Anyway, sorry for novel as my first post but I thought, what the hell, might as well jump right in. Nice to meet everyone and I'm loving the Jeep so far!
