Any after market lights should always be zip tied together. Saves time later....just in case. Using dielectric grease on the connections is always a wise idea also. These two items take just a few seconds but are worth the effort for sure.

I noticed the 'version 2' listing on the clear tail lights, but no version 2 for smoked or red. What's updated to make it version 2?

I asked about this somewhere back in this thread.

Their "version 1" tail lights do not have the sequence function. Their "version 2" tail lights, the ones we focused upon in this thread, do have the sequence function.

As far as I know, there hasn't been an update to the "version 2" tail lights. Except for the lens color, the clear, smoke, and red ones are all the same.

I seem to remember there was a post (reply) by Hilldweller to the possibility of an updated version but he did not mention what it was due to the fact he had not been permission to "let the cat out of the bag" so to speak. Hopefully I remember that somewhat correctly....kind of, sorta, maybe.

So... Over a year and over 300 posts. Does everyone still like these tail lights?

I still like mine. No problems and are still pretty rare (never seen another JK with them in person).

They just hit me right. I think I'll get a set. Besides... The skills required to install these are closely aligned with my mechanical skill set!

That would make sense, but the red and smoke are still sequential correct?

I'm interested in the red, I'm planning to overhaul the Jeep this spring if taxes don't kill me first.

Yep, all the sequencing tail lights are the same version 2, even if that term has been accidentally dropped from some of the webpage descriptions.

I have the red lens (keeping to having a traditional red tail light even when not illuminated) and they sequence just fine.

They're trying to make the sequential blinker light up in amber. I hope they sort it out; the NHTSA has proved that amber turn signals are a bigger pay-off in terms of safety than the CHMSL.

Plus amber looks cool.

I agree. Though, to do it correctly, isn't trivial.

One can't simply swap out the red LED's for amber ones, since one still needs red for the brake lights.

Also, I would think is nearly impossible to tell the difference between a brake light "request" and the first blink "request" for a turn signal. For these Spyder v2 turn signals today, it hardly noticeable that the first blink doesn't sequence. However, for an amber turn, the first blink will need to be red, and then turns amber for the 2nd blink, and so on. That color change would be noticeable enough (possibly even odd looking).

All of this, is for a plug-and-play install. If one is willing to go further, and do some re-wiring, it would work out better.

Yeah.

I tried isolating the pwm signals and all I got was a headache. I even talked to one of the gizmo-head programmers at FCA and he said "nah, you gotta run wires...."

Hello fellow NJ neighbor. How was the install with these? How's the seal with the body of the tail light against the Wrangler's body?

These look good. Do they have “DOT” marked on them? Some states are picky about that.

Yes (though hard to see). Its down toward the bottom of the reflective part of the taillight.

Hey Poo,
The install was plug-N-play, just like OEM lights.
I attached some close ups, looks good too me, only had them on a day.
I'm in North Jersey, if you want too see them in person let me know.

I wonder how they do it for the Euro spec with amber then from factory? Could your flash code for Euro, or is it a whole different harness as well? Interesting idea, since I seem to remember someone doing a JK conversion to Euro spec and getting it to work. I'll see if I can find the writeup somewhere. *edit* different harness...

Once the wiring is worked out, running a section of amber LED is nothing but design work.

Found one of the threads, and Hilldweller might remember it too...

Different harness and plugs, supporting an additional wire for the separate (amber) turn signal wire.

Thanks for the pictures, the seal looks pretty good. I'm still between these and the Putcos. I like the latter better, but from all accounts I've read the Putcos seem to be sort of a hassle to install and their other LED products seem to have short lifespans.

I have some work business to take care of up in Dover in 2 weeks so if you're available, I might take you up on your offer to check them out in person. I'll DM you as I get closer to the day to see where you're at with your schedule.

Has anyone had any problems with theirs?

Amazon has these for $188 and I'm thinking of getting a set. However, my experience with aftermarket lights is that they tend not to last as long. So I'm wondering if any of you guys had any problems with these Spyder lights and if you had any hassles getting assistance from the vendor?

Thanks

Are you sure? I see these on Amazon for $238 ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B079SVYJXJ ). Are you sure that the $188 one you found aren't some cheap clones?

Mine are still working great. I haven't had any problems so I can't speak for their customer assistance.

No updates.
@epreza50 is the man to ask about that.
If they do manage to sort out the electronic wizardry involved, it would make a super lamp.

I haven't. And I still don't think they can do it, and still be strictly "plug and play" (no new or changed wiring). Well, not without having the problem of the first turn blink being red, and only the subsequent blinks being amber.
