New to thread and hopeful jeep owner

Hi everyone,

I almost bought a Jeep today, and well... they brought the price down and then tried to add an extra 3k last minute in services and fees and all this other crap on a used jeep. So I'm just curious becuase I can't find any.... but has anyone purchased a JK for around 15 or 16k? I've been approved for a 2011 or newer as long as it's under 100k miles. The one I was looking at was a 2011 2 door sport manual with a 4 inch lift and 20 inch rims on 35's. I had them talked down to $16,105. I just need some help to join the jeep famly.

Buying a used jeep on a budget can be difficult.

I went thru that. Tried to find a "basic" low mileage 2-door, manual was almost impossible. As most were higher end model or models with higher mileage.

So I gave up and bought a new 2016 JK sport. Only options were A/C and premium softtop. $25,100 (plus tax, title, etc). Very pleased.

That's almost as much as the ones I'm looking at now. Used car market is freaking wild right now.

This is just my opinion: unless you really know your way around a Jeep Wrangler, stay away from anything with a four-inch lift. You really have no idea what the previous owner did right...or wrong! Your best bet is to find something that is pure stock. Be patient. There's lots of them out there. The Internet can be your friend in your situation.

Had the exact same experience with my 2014 (except I got the hardtop). Especially if you're looking for a manual - not easy to find. I couldn't even find a new one in stock (all were higher end models) so I ended up having one built for me.

According to NADA, I could trade it in now for $22,000 or $23,000.

If you had them talked down to 16K and like it, run don't walk to that deal. Jeeps hold their value. That is a great price on it. I got my 2013 with 30k miles on it for right around 25k. They weren't moving anymore. Yeah people say that I could have gone new, but by the time it had similar options + dealer fees I was 7-8k lower.

I'm with Hellhound and suggest you avoid this Jeep. 4" lift requires significant modifications to be done correctly so it will last. I think it may be tough to find 2011 or newer in that price range. It may not be impossible, but I think difficult. Good luck!

Well they decided to add and extra 3-3,500k onto the 16k which is what made me say no and I also didn't want to buy from someone who changed the price on me after we agreed on one. Just gave me that creepy dirt bag vibe...

Thanks! I'm learning it's a hard price but everyone keeps saying if I'm patient I'll find one... So I'm slowly becoming a monk... If you find anything like it please let me know!
