Chances are in your part of the world, it will rust after one winter. I went with a no-name for the front bumper on my 09 and it was a mess after one winter. Replaced it with a Smitty. Still looks good after two Western NY winters. I added a Barricade rear bumper with the single action tire carrier. The bumper still looks ok but the powder coat on the hardware, such as the tire carrier has come off.
You get what you pay for. I am just gonna be blunt- its sad that we've gone from Smitty- who knocked off the quality bumpers with questionable quality. To Barricade, Havoc, Auto Grills jumping on the bandwagon- knocking off Smitty. Which I thought was nuts. Now they don't even bother to add company names.
Save a few hundred dollars. Buy any of the well known, well respected quality bumpers and make your purchase once. Otherwise crappy powder coat, fading powder coat, bad welds and buyer's remorse are likely what you'll get from your $369.
What do you mean? Painted inside? I had a Rampage for years with zero issues. And I beat it to crap. Gave it to a friend and she's still running it in Colorado. Rain and snow...still no rust.
That said- it was purchased when they were still in California/bought out.
Thank you for that warning. I should add that one of the reasons I am interested in a new bumper is to also upgrade to a heavy duty tire carrier so that when I eventually upgrade to 35s I will be prepared to carry a spare.
You can run the TF carrier by itself (cheaper) and run the stock bumper with a 35" tire. I ran it that way for over a year. I think I may have added Daystar bump stops? Not sure it's been awhile... but I had no issues and that included very harsh trail use. That allowed me to save up money for the quality bumper I wanted. At that point I added the adjustable mount. I've been stuck behind too many rattling carriers, seen to many people struggle with cheap carriers that you have to slam to get to close, carriers with crappy welds that self destruct and bumpers that rust in a year....to spend money on something not quality. But that's just me.
When you see someone's spare roll down the side of a mountain, with the tire still on it...you'd understand.
I run the TF carrier with a 35" tire/wheel and it works great.
I have read report on this and other forums about several name brand bumper tire carriers having issues; rust, failing latches, failing hinges, and generally not holding up to the elements nor off road use. I would have no faith at all in a no-name unit being worth anything at all.
FWIW, IMO, YMMV
