OEM Windshield

Hello dear friends.
My windshield were cracked and replaced by Jeep dealership.
I've asked for original OEM glass ONLY and this is what I received.
Shouldn't it be by MOPAR ?!
Please advise

That is not an OEM. Demand for an explanation. How much did they charged you?

If a JK, it should say Mopar, and have a Jeep in the right lower corner and jeep grill top center.
If your cracked one did not have those, most insurance companies will not replace it with OEM. if it DID have those, and you have the OEM rider on your insurance, make them correct it, because next time it cracks they will say no OEM because the one you now have isn't.
It may also be ODM, which is not the same but is good quality.
But again, if you asked for OEM and it is on your insurance as a rider, make them correct it.

It could be the insurance company would not pay for an OEM replacement. An OEM replacement is more than double that bill. When I had a buzzard take out the windshield on my 2015 Sahara, it was less than a year old and USAA paid for an OEM. They also had to cover the repair of the dent in the WS frame - total bill was over $1000, less the $300 deductible I have. When a rock cracked my 2017 Chief windshield in April, I paid for it out of pocket, went with an aftermarket for $212. Do I miss the Jeep grille and the little Jeep in the corner - not really.

Is an OEM one going to be any better than non-OEM? My stock windshield is so sand blasted and chipped, doesn't seem special.

Quite a few places online sell the Jeep grill and "climbing jeep" corner decals for non-OEM glass if anyone misses that.

We went with an aftermarket windshield for around $200. It didn't have the Jeep decals but I found a kit for them on Amazon for around $15. No one can tell that it isn't the factory glass and the replacement has held up well for 4 years so far.

Short answer, no. Mopar doesn't manufacture glass, it contracts that out. For all you know, what you put in was made in the same factory but Mopar does not put their logo or mark up on it

My replacement windshield (cracked!) says "Mopar" and has the Jeep and grill stickers. But it cost me $495.- ... which is exactly $5.- below my insurance deductible. What a coincidence, huh?

The comprehensive deductible is where the windshield replacement cost is applied. Usually $100, $50 or $0. If you indeed have a $500 deductible on comp, you need a new insurance company. It costs almost nothing per month for even the $0 deductible version.

I had my windshield replace because of a stone chip, and a large branch fell on my Jeep in a wind storm. Dented the part right about the windshield. I told the dealer (who fixed my Jeep) and my insurance company that I wanted an original windshield because I like "JEEP" above the review, and the little Jeep climbing the rocks in the corner. That's what I got. They said it cost around $600.

We all know that the Jeep brand doesnít manufacture the windscreen so while not labeled MOPAR/FCA/Jeep, wondering whether or not your glass was made by the OEM. I had a car windscreen replaced and asked this same question. The vendor who handled the replacement was able to document that their supplier was the same outfit that made the OEM units so while the new glass wasnít branded ĎMINIí, it was OEM in every other aspect.
Bobnh hit the important points. Does your vehicle insurance allow you to stipulate what parts are used in the event of a claim?
As far as how to tell whether or not the replacement is OEM, do like he indicated and look for the Jeep-related Easter Eggs; believe that in addition to the ones he listed, mine also has eye-candy in the lower corner.
Does the $200 USD cover the glass only or the total bill? In either event, it seems fairly inexpensive.
I sure do love Florida insurance where front and rear glass is replaced free (no deductible).

Spoke to insurance company prior the fix and they absolutely agree to cover OEM Windshield.

But my main question is "Solar" branded Windshield is OEM or it should say "Mopar" ?

Not sure if this helps, but I had my shield replaced by Safelite via insurance claim and emphasized that I want OEM replacement only which I got. My Jeep is a 12í
The shield says MOPAR and has the grill decal in center and a Jeep climbing on the passenger side. My side windows say MOPAR as well which is original. So, my point is that Iím guessing OE glass would be labeled but Iím not 100 % certain.

Not displaying the Jeep or MOPAR logo/name most likely means it is not OEM, but that doesn’t mean that the OEM did not make it. From something I read in another forum, the CCC in the circle has something to do with the windshield is eligible to be used in China.
With the benefit of some additional time, I am now thinking that the ‘SOLAR’ denotes some sort of solar or infrared properties and not the folks who made it. I’m probably the last one to make this realization.

Safelite has replaced mine for $200 twice in my 17' Winter. I now have a crack below my sight line and 3 rock dings from my recent trip to the mountains in New Mexico. I wont replace it until it impedes my sight. Not worth it.

I have comprehensive coverage on my 12. Just had another windshield replaced here in NC. Safelite did it, I specified OEM glass and that's what they used.

I have no deductible on glass replacement. I believe I get 2 a year for $0 cost to me.

Zero deductible for me too. My insurance covered the cost of Mopar glass, and even a set of premium wiper blades.

The only thing I had to pay for was a state inspection/sticker once the glass was replaced ($25 or so).

Texas literally has a law against insurance companies being able to provide that service. When I was in Az, I had dings fixed for free and a windshield replaced in my Expedition. Here in TejasÖ no Bueno.

That's a Chinese made windshield. The "DOT1040" tells you who made it, Xinyi Auto Parts, which is based in Tianjin, China. Xinyi Auto Parts is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Xinyi Glass. OEM Windshields should say DOT904, made by Pittsburg Glass Works.

FWIW- My 08 JKU Sahara had a DOT904 windshield and said MOPAR but it did not have the Jeep grill or climbing jeep accents- I assume those came later, or mine was an OEM replacement by the previous owner that didn't have them.

Which is why I specified NC. When I lived in MA, it was $25 deductible for glass (but that was 13 years ago) and many Glass companies either waived the $25 or you got entered into a weekly contest where 99% of those who were entered into, won. Sucks for those states that won't cover glass, I know.
