Ordered my Gobi stealth rack yesterday....

....now the wait. Ordered the standard stealth rack with no modifications from trail duty. Got free shipping, free ladder, free wind deflector, added a second ladder, front windshield body protectors, and the front "sunroof" insert. Trail duty emailed me and said they were having a sale and refunded me $100, super solid of them to do that. All told its $1950 out the door. Ships directly from Gobi in quoted 6-8 weeks. Already installed one on my buddies jeep so super excited to get one on mine. No way to carry my paddle board until it arrives. Anyway, tick tock, tick tock, need to just try and forget about it . Made the post in case anyone was considering buying one and wanted to mention trail duty with their freebies and sale price.
Take care

Hey gents sorry for the late get back. I still haven't received my order yet. Still patiently waiting. I contacted the place I ordered from to see if I could get an update but have yet to here from them. I think I'm at 6 or 7 weeks now. Hopefully here for my March trip. Pics once installed.

Just checked and I'm at 7 weeks. They told me up front it is 6-8, as they build them to order. Just starting to really want it now that I'm in the quoted time zone. My buddy lucked out and found a place that actually had one in stock so he go his in one week. You never know if you start calling around to the various distributors. Good luck. I will say checking out my buddies, they are bad ass. I wasn't going to originally get the sun roof insert, but after seeing his, and how easy it is to remove to take off the freedom panels, I added it to the order and am glad I did for the extra storage space.

since they're made to order, would Gobi make the rack with closer clearance to the roofline for hardtop guys ?

Arrived!! Install tomorrow. Man, I don't think I've ever bought anything that had this level of protective packing. No wonder it took 8 weeks. Half that time was spent packing the s.o.b. Great job Gobi. Attention to detail on the build and protecting it from shipping damage was 100%.

My experience with Gobi has been nothing short of stellar. I ordered Gobi rack (driver-side ladder, wind deflector, and $100.00 discount for my 2015 JKUR) on 21 Jan 2016 and it arrived 23 Feb 2016.

The box is MASSIVE. I did not think to measure the box before opening it up, but after putting the box back together I measured it. It is roughly 98 inches long, 62 inches high, and about 15 wide. While not very heavy the box is hard to move around.

I do not think I have seen anything packed so well, and I have mail-ordered telescopes from 5" to 13" in size! The telescope packing people could learn lots from the way Gobi packs those racks.

The shipping company called me the to arrange a date and time of delivery. They arrived on time.

Dealing with Gobi was great. Every interaction I had with them was world class. I am a very happy customer.

If Oregon weather permits, I will install the rack this weekend.

Have fun....

As stated, box was huge, packed amazing, shipped by company called to schedule, called when an hour out, and arrived right on time.

Took my time installing today and got it done in 4 hours. Had a neighbor help me on the couple steps that take two people. I bought an anti seize crayon to treat all the bolt threads which is a lot easier and less messy than the pouch of paste. Please use anti seize. My buddy broke two bolts installing his because of galling since he didn't use anti seize. For some reason nylock nuts can wreak havoc on stainless boots. I had zero issues by using anti seize.

All hardware was complete, not missing anything. I did dual ladders and sunroof insert.
And now the photos.

Today I placed an order for the optional upper rack isolators. While probably not 100% necessary, I figured what the heck, it can only add to the racks stability. Here's on more side shot.

Will do. Mines a late 2015 rubicon with 4.10's. I usually get mid 17's to low 18's prior to the rack. I have full steel skids underneath, and steel rock rails. Preliminary wind noise test is it was noticeable this afternoon at 65mph, but I hadn't put the wind deflector on yet. Not annoying but definitely noticeable. Also, I did not relocate the sat antenna and noticed no appreciable signal loss during my test drive. Sat occasionally dropped out prior and it didn't do it any more than before. I will update more in a couple days as I have some freeway driving to do. My mpg calcs are all out of the evic, so take them for what they're worth.

I'd get one in a heartbeat if it didn't prevent me from getting my Jeep in the garage. I'm a stickler when it comes to not leaving my Jeep outside for "predators".

Outstanding ! Most reports go something like "about a 1-2 mpg and wind noise is ok". You report engine, gears, mods, evic, etc. PERFECT. Thanks so much. Looking forward to your follow up.

I'm assuming you have a lift? My buddy has same vehicle and rack as me with 2.5" lift and 33's. He can still get into his garage and has about 1" clearance. I have tons of room as I'm stock suspension, stock rubicon tires.

Today's commute into work. 60 miles at freeway speeds between 65 to 70 mph.
I have the included wind deflector installed exactly as specified in the instructions, even measured as directed. I do notice more wind noise in the 45-60mph range. Not drumming or anything like that, but kinda like driving on a windy day with the stock hard top and no rack. Once my speed was at around 65 and up, it was basically the same as before the rack. I don't ever exceed 70 in the jeep.

My sat and GPS antenna are still in their factory locations. GPS reception was unaffected. It never once lost signal. I had it guide me to work so I could test it.
Sat radio was playing the entire time. Signal fell out for a couple seconds a few times in the first 5 or so minutes after I got underway, but stayed locked in the rest of the way. I'm sure the buffer helps with this after it has a few minutes to load content.

I'll burn through this tank and report back on my initial evic gas mileage loss.

Initially my drivers side ladder was too close to the hard top, as I purposely sucked them in tight to the vehicle. Over certain bumps, the vehicle would rock and the hard top would tap into the ladder making an anoying clunk. Found and remedied that yesterday. There's quite a bit of adjustability on the ladder mounts.

The vehicle feels slightly top heavier, which is to be expected, but it doesn't feel squirely in the least bit. Again I'm on stock rubicon suspension and tires at 37psi.

More to follow if you all are interested.

By far the most helpful review and analysis I've seen for much of any rack.

I certainly appreciate it. I guess for one last write up, put some junk up there and report back.

My personal interest is a couple gas cans and a roof top tent.

Well done!

yes. keep it coming. Im not going lie, I was pretty much going to buy one anyways. But you are accelerating my plans. I have been waiting for an otherwise stock JKU to post useful objective info about the gobi stealth. Thx (BTW, stick or auto?)

Auto. It may be some time before I get much weight up there. Eventually we are getting a roof top tent. For now it's mostly going to be used for my paddle board which is only about 45 pounds. Another interesting fact is the cross bars are Yakima/Thule accessory compatible. I will be buying ski holders so I can carry my skis on top instead of inside. For bikes I use a Thule rear carrier in the receiver hitch. Never cared for bikes way up on the roof. Way too easy to hit shit.
