Ordered tires and rims from Extreme Terrain

I placed a order of Friday for 5 Rims Tires and TPMS sensors mounted and balanced. Got the email this morning that they were sent off to UPS and I should expect them on Friday great no problem with that. The I get the next email late this afternoon that they sent our 5 TPMS on a different tracking number. This can not be good so I give them a call spoke to a pleasant young lady who attempted to verify that the TMPS in fact were installed in the rim when they mounted the tires.

They dont know if they were or not.

So I either have a extra set of 5 TPMS coming along with the tires and rims which means we will work out a way to return them OR they didnt install them for some reason which means that I need to have them installed.

Now ET says that they will cover the cost of uninstalling the tires mounting the TPMS and reinstalling the tires but I expect if that is the case it will be out of my pocket first and then they will reimburse me.

I guess that I will find out on Friday which way it is going to go.

Ask them who they will be doing the remounting through so that they can be directly billed. Tell them "I will update you if it isn't needed".

They probably have a deal with a major shop already that get's a discounted price for them.

I hope they sent you the whole wheel, and not just the rim.

I considered ordering from them a five wheel setup until I checked the BBB site for their reviews. Hope it works out for you but I took my business elsewhere in the Pacific Northwest.

Try Googling Rim and see what you come up with.

That sucks if you have to install the TPMS(s). Even if they reimburse you, what about the hassle, your time, and they always scratch the wheels when mouting and balancing. I go to 4◊4 places, or shops that mount expensive wheels, they have the right equipment. Unless you don't care about scratches on new wheels.

Let's not let this get out of hand.

What Is a Wheel and What Is a Rim? Are They the Same Thing?

It may seem obvious, but a wheel is comprised of a hub, spokes and rim. Sometimes these components will be one piece, sometimes two or three. The hub is the center portion of the wheel and is what attaches the wheel to the suspension. The spokes radiate out from the hub and attach to the rim. The rim is the outer part of the wheel that holds the tire. While many people refer to wheels as "rims," this is technically incorrect.

@gixxerphil

Congrats on 60k POSTS!

To the point... this has become ET's moniker. Lets screw something up at the owners expense of time and money and give them a discount or a credit to make it better. When they told me I had to use a new email address for my account with them because I disputed a charge (3 items in stock on their website but 3 weeks later they hadn't shipped because they were out of stock) with Paypal and now my email was considered fraudulent?

I moved on. @northridge is where I shop now.

Good luck with what ever they F'd up this time.

Refuse shipment and reorder from a different place? I wouldn't be happy getting 5 new tires and wheels delivered that I had to take to shop to have it done right.

Good luck.

Ive ordered wheels from XT and loads of other stuff..

Did a few RMAs as well..

They even sent me a "kit" that was incomplete, i emailed them and the vendor and it was squared away the next day from the vendor actually.. i offered to send back the incomplete kit and they didnt even want it back...

My experience with them as been positive..

Glad to hear this, I only went on BBB feedback and try and get other feedback as well like Yelp, etc before working with a vendor. This forum has been very informative.and I don't intend to throw any vendor "under the bus" just giving feedback to what I reviewed online and my own decision. I hope the OPs purchase works out and ET is a reputable vendor future folks can rely on.

When you get the tire, you can take out one valve stem. You can then probe to stick a thin wire into the valve. It a TMPS is mounted the wire will stop. If no TMPS is mounted the wire will go deep.

If there is no TMPS mounted, I would send it all back too.

Too often I was trying to be the nice guy and got burned as a result. So those days are over.

They messed up, they should pay. They don't like it? Too exlensive for them? Too bad. Next time they should pay better attention to detail.

Tires came today each in a separate box dropped off by UPS about noon while I was at work. Boxes stacked at the end of the driveway each one busted open at the seams.

That is how I found then when I got home after working a accident where a kid riding his skateboard got run over by someone on the phone.

The tires and wheels all check out fine not a mark on them and they are now on the Jeep.

The TPMS was not installed and has not arrived yet due tomorrow according to UPS.

It is hot and I need a few beers to unwind from the accident so I just need to settle down before I call ET and raise hell with them but that will not happen until tomorrow.

With any vendor staffed by human employees there are going to be good transactions and not so good transactions. Compared to cancer or the death of a child many of these situations are trivial by comparison.

Hopefully it all works out for you.

Why are TPMS sensors so important?

For ages there was no such thing as TPMS sensors.

I do no have TPMS sensors in my winter wheels, and I am not missing them.

While here in Canada, TPMS is kind of an optional toy and not considered a "safety device", I believe in the US it is mandated (in the tread act).... any passenger vehicle under 10,000lbs.

Take those rims, wheels and tires to a place that has a Road Force tire balancer.

That's a fact!!!
Just the other day, my kid had to have emergency surgery on his right hand from a construction accident.
most other shit is so insignificant, and we make such a huge deal out of everything. It will all work out.
I quit making a big deal outa stuff when i was finally on a transport on the way home from Vietnam in the early '70's. My big deal was finally over

I just got the phone with ET from what I was told this seems to be a common occurrence.

I was told that they would pay to have them installed BUT only after I paid for it first and sent them all the paperwork then they would reimburse me but only up to $35 per tire. That is not a good deal to me my time is valuable to me and sitting around for 1-2 hours at a shop waiting to get the tires done is not something I want to do.

Why is it that a business can think that someone half assed doing a job is good for them? Everything was ordered at the same time which means that the work order was printed with all the parts on it. It does not take a genius to figure out that all the parts go together to make one unit and there should not be any left overs and if you have extras you did something wrong fix it before it leaves.

You have all the rights to be upset.

You could simply return the TPMS sensors, asked for a discount for the trouble they caused; and happily drive your Jeep without the sensors.

If you return the entire order will they give you a full refund including return shipping?

If so, send the order back, wait 24 hours and reorder the whole thing again and this time make sure to emphasize that the sensors need to be installed prior to shipping. You could even ask for a confirmation call prior to being shipped to verify the installation.

Another option would be to have someone drop you off at the tire shop so you don't have to wait and then go pick up the vehicle when done. Maybe take the wife out for lunch during the process or take in a movie. That way you aren't wasting your time.

Itís easy to get caught up in the day-to-day BS. What usually happens for me is the universe serves me humility and perspective. I just recently was in the hospital for eight days and after that everything looks different to me now.
