Paint underside of hardtop?

I assume all the undersides of the hardtops are white? Anyone paint theirs?

I've never seen it, a lot of people use the head liner kits, I have and recommend them... Hot heads are excellent!

I am in the process of changing mine out. I couldn't find any panels that I really liked. So I made a paper pattern bought a thin sheet of MDF, some foam, and happened to be in a leather store when they put some dark blue suede on sale for $5 a skin. I couldn't resist. The front panels are done and seem to be hold well with the velcro I used to install. I am still trying to get the template made for the rear areas. I was going to work on it this week, but the jeep is at the dealers getting the headlight replaced (It exploded) and getting the top fixed (Leaks.) I will try to get photos once I am done. Making them yourself is ridiculously easy, and cheap. I think I'm into it for about $150 and I seriously over estimated how much suede I would use.

Why? I don't really see why the headliner color would affect vision at night. I was considering just plastidipping mine so that I could pull it off it I didn't like it.

I have the head liner. But you still have white ( stupid ) strips around the edges. So I am going to paint the panels red, the same colour of the car. That way my whole car will be red and black. Not done yet, shit weather here.

The white is stupid, should be black from the factory.

I'm assuming they painted them white to make the inside appear larger. Same concept with painting a ceiling white in a house...

I guess I really didn't make myself clear ALL the windows were tinted....doors and HT all had limo black on 'em front windshield was like 30%, once I painted the inside (so I could no longer be seen even in silhouette) at night I could see NOTHING..added 2 sets of driving lights so I could see......IDK why but when it was totally blacked out inside, at night I couldn't see very well outside the Jeep at all...sunny days were like it was cloudy and cloudy days were like night time.....yeah it looked "cool" but wasn't a very good idea.....

My pleasure, if you want some pics of them, I can snap a few. I've got the black ones in my 2012 jk. I did the surrounds for the windows to, adds a nice finishing touch to the jeep.

Not a JK, but I painted the inside of my hardtop a few years ago and couldn't be more pleased.
