Painted My Hardtop!

I bought a used hardtop last week, but I couldn't get past the ugly white color of the inside.

I saw on the various forums where some people have painted theirs black, but I didn't want black either.

My Jeep is gobi (tan). I found some spray paint that was almost an exact match to my gobi color, so I painted the inside of the top to match the outside of my Jeep. Turned out pretty darn good!

Did you sand it first, and also how many coats?

Thinking about black for mine - black cloth seats. Or maybe a medium tan to complement the red exterior.

I didn't sand it, but I roughed it up with a green pad. Then I wiped it a few times with isopropyl alcohol and sprayed it. Turned out great.

I like the idea of color matching. I have gobi too. I would not want a dark color tho as it is already hard enough to see inside sometimes.

For Gobi, this paint in Khaki worked out perfect for me.

It does look great.
I did the opposite. I painted my Jeep to match my top...

I painted mine. I was putting in the mopar insulation panels that are black and could not stand the white/black. So I painted the inside semi gloss black so its all one color now. Much, much better.

I was really hoping you painted the outside, but looks nice anyway.

Nice masking prep too.
