Poor man's soft top? Bikini/Bimini?

I have a hard top. No soft top, no channels or door surrounds. I'm looking at some options to keep things mostly dry while the hard top is in the garage.

I've looked at emergency tops. I'm not really fond of the ones that cover the windshield and would probably just do a tar/bungees if I had to stay stationary. The ones that are drivable have pretty spotty reviews and sound like they still leak if you don't have the surrounds.

I've been watching for tops on craigslist but the prices aren't great (tis the season) and finding one for $500 or less might be a bit unrealistic.

I was thinking about a bikini top, duster, etc but it sounds like I'll still have gaps around the doors. Am I missing an obvious option?

Look for a used soft top. I tried the bikini top/duster on my old jeep and it sucked It was useless for rain protection.

Took me 2 minutes to search your area.... I would check craigslist on a daily basis because it seems like theres tons out there

07-10 4dr wrangler soft top

That will work for you, only thing you will be missing is you will be using the 09-11 style top.

Any downside to that?

This guy has one a bit cheaper with hardware and surrounds and the price is right.

Keep looking in craigslist, I picked up a brand new complete, mopar premimum soft top with door surrounds and all hardware for $600. There is another seller with a complete standard top for $450.
Your budget of $500 is very realistic for a complete oem soft top. But check daily, because the good ones priced well sell very fast

Try getting '12 or newer, since they have the spring assist mechanism

Sounds like a great find on the premium. That would definitely be my preference.

Yes, the premium is awesome! It's real cloth as opposed to vinyl.
Premium soft tops complete all listed all day long for $1000.00 some buyers are firm on price but others are willing to let them go for less

I've been really happy with my Bestop Sunrider soft top. It has a front section that flips back quickly and easily like a sunroof. The versatility makes it ideal for quick changes in weather or other conditions. I've been thinking of trading in my '99 TJ Sport for a newer Wrangler, but looking online, I'm not seeing a Sunrider made for models newer than 2006. So that could be a problem.

Go see the top in person first, I almost bought a 13' with a premium top (Freedom Edition) and hated that material. It looked like it absorbed dirt.

Yeah I've seen them. That how I originally ordered my Jeep. I'll keep an eye out for some newer take-offs.

Any other options? Are the bikinis as bad as they sound, in terms of keeping the water out?

The mopar one is better then a bestop, you still need the front channel but that part is cheap. If you get the one that uses the side rails it will be decent but your issue will be the back seat. If you order the 3 piece kit, top, tonneau, windbreaker the fitment wont block the rain. On the 2 door its a great fit because the windbreaker goes to the edges, on the 4 door it does not.

Aye, sounds like it won't help much. Alright, so I think I'll grab a tarp and bungees for now and keep an eye out for deal on a soft top.

Just in case, JK Unlimited Jeep Cover

These are good to have around if you take your doors off/top and go riding.

Just FYI the Sunrider is standard equipment on all new Wranglers with a soft top. You don't have to buy it extra if you get a JK Wrangler (unless you get a 07-09 that doesn't have it, it was an option back then).

I am confused: they don't have one for 2015s yet?

If I take my hardtop off front and rear panels, and doors, which one would I get? What if I keep doors on?

They just havent updated their website, 07-15 is all the same. The cover works with the doors on or off the Jeep.
