Premium vs. Regular Soft top removal

In terms of ease of removal, both on first day of ownership and years down the road, does the Premium soft top offer greater ease of affecting this removal than the regular soft top?

And does this ease of removal include just taking a portion of the soft top down so the front seats are exposed to the sky (what is this called---Safari mode???) or are both tops equally paired for such partial soft top removal?

Thank you.

The two tops are equal in 'Sunrider' mode. You just undo the two header clamps on the windshield footman loops and push the front section up and back. In the winter, I do it at a stop light after the day has warmed up enough. I wouldn't call that a 'removal' though - more of an optional mode. To me 'removal' is folding the top down and then removing the 4 torx screws that hold the frame to the sports bar so you can store the top in the garage or shed. Having said that, both tops are equal in that regard also.

The material doesn't aid at all in removal. The premium twill will clean up easier, stay blacker longer, and just look better over time. It's well worth the price difference. I had the premium oem top on my JKU Willys and went to the twill Trektop and it was worth it hands down.

However, I will add something.

Only the standard top allows using the aftermarket elbow quick releases. Which makes it a bit easier. The premium cover has a different elbow set-up and there are no aftermarket options for quick release. The four bolts must be removed.

Therefore the "fastest" would be a standard top with quick release knobs.

I still prefer the premium top and it doesn't take too long to do those four bolts.

Premium vs. Regular Soft top removal

Only the older tops without the spring assist allow the quick release.

I have a 2015 standard top and it is exactly the same as the premium in terms of the frame.

I like the standard cause it is a perfect match to my soft doors.
