Put your thinkin cap on..I need help identifying this

07 Rubicon. This was mounted on the lower dash panel on the drivers side when I got it. I have tried pressing the button and seeing if it does anything, I had some one stand outside the vehicle to see if he saw anything change anywhere but I can not figure this out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It was there when you "got it?" How did you acquire this vehicle? Did you buy it, steal it or simply find it? I know I'm being a wise a$$, but how could you purchase a vehicle with that mess installed and not bother to ask what it is?

Hold the button and trying starting it. Could be ignition/starter kill.

I'd hide it a little better then on the bottom of the dash if it was an ignition kill.

Maybe it turns off the ESP or some other JK electronic something-er other.

Thanks for the input folk. I'm not great with electrical, but I will see if I can take a better look at things tomorrow in th elight of day and see if I can find where the wires go.

my first guess was a sprint booster, but after looking at some pics of the sprint booster I am going with "I dont have a freaking clue" Maybe you should get in contact with who ever you got this vehicle from. If there still around...

That would be the best option. Good luck on tracing the wires and let us know what you find.

My dad purchased a used truck from a dealership when I was growing up that had a similar button like this under the dash. Come to find out, it turned off the odometer, therefore showing less miles than it actually had. Needless to say, he was a little upset and got a great deal on a new one. Maybe something for you to check in to...

That's my guess. Maybe a gizmo to engage the rear locker in 4-high.

Call the former owner and save your sanity.

I think the PO just put it there and the wires don't go anywhere, they just wanted to screw with your mind

When I sold my Cherokee I had a red aviator style switch right next to the tranny shifter, but it wasn't wired

Thanks for the input folks. I bought this ata dealer, and I would be willing to bet they have no clue what it is. So I have no idea who the original owner is.

The BMV or the dealer or Carfax can tell you who the PO was. Call the dealer....

If you look at the 2nd picture it also appears that wires where cut off as well..to the connector thingy. I would also want to find out what those went to. Thus start following your wires. Also is that mess of wire's to the left factory?

Did you try removing the two screws and looking at the back? It looks like it was made specifically for something so there may be a name on the back that will help identify what it is r at least a manufacturer. Personally I would be more worried about what all those wire taps and cut connectors are.

I knew a guy who installed a switch like that to turn off his brakes lights when he was running from the cops.
