Quadratec Q-series winch on Hard Rock?

Hello All,

I recently purchased my first Jeep, 2015 Hard Rock Tank, and would like to start building an inventory of upgrades to complete when I return home from Afghanistan. I have searched and read many post on installing winches on the Hard Rock bumper but I still have a few questions. One is I am looking at the Quadratec Q-series Stealth winch Quadratec Exclusive 92122 2042 - Quadratec Q9500is Stealth Winch with Dyneema® Synthetic Rope - Quadratec 9.5K winch. Is this a suitable option? I do not forsee me doing much extreme wheeling that would need a Warn Zeon or high end winch but only recovery in the winter months of either myself or fellow motorists. Will a 9.5K winch be enough or should I revert to a higher capacity and what about the quality of this option? Secondly I see there are several companies and several options of mounting plate configurations for the Hard Rock. Which would be needed to correctly install this winch? Any guidance in the matter will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Josh

maximus-3 has the mounts, the but the cheapest option is Bullydog.

As far as "if it will fit" the Q series, hopefully some others with expertise can chime in. good luck. free bump.

I have same bumper you have and I went with a zeon and I think you can only fit a zeon or a warn 9.5 cti in those mopar bumpers with Maximus plate the zeon need centered plate and 9.5cti needs off center but I may be wrong that is what my research told me to I went with the zeon 10-S platinum and turned out great.

I just got that exact winch for similar reasons. It is unboxed and has been briefly mounted but not run yet so I do not have any real experience with it. So far I am happy. I will say that the front grill seems to have an issue with it in that the winch seems to have to be removed to remove the grill. This may be somewhat normal I don't know and it does need further study as soon as I have some time. My new front bumper is the Quadratec Tacktik. PM Quadratec Rick to get your discount on these.

I just picked up some 10a bumpers for my Willys. I'd like to know this as well.

I have the Q11000s and have only used it once to pull my boss's Ram and then myself out of a windblown snow drifted road. As long as he was on snow I was able to pull him back. But the weight disadvantage did have me pulling the Jeep towards him (I was on snowpacked road). Once I got the keys out of the locked (doh) Jeep, I hooked onto his hitch and pull the front end of the Jeep about 6 ft sideways. Nothing like winching in 50mph winds..

Have used the Q11K on several occasions, so far no issues other then when it is very cold, hard to free spool and takes powering out. Likely the weight of the gear lub when it gets cold. Several were hard pulls and did the job on the JKUR. Certainly priced right and lower amp draw.

Mounted the Q9500is Stealth on my 2016 HR bumper on Saturday. Works great!! I plan to start a build thread to go through all of the steps I took and I have plenty of pictures to go along. But for now, let me know if you have any questions about it. It all went together pretty well!

I used the original MOPAR mount. It was designed for the 2015 HR/10A bumpers and prior. They changed the design slightly on the late 2015MY, and then came out with a new MOPAR mount, one that is not as strong, in my opinion.

The original mount, part# 82213840, is no longer made, so it is hard to find. According to my dealership, I got the last one in stock in like a 150mi radius of them, which was luckily at a dealership only about 15mi away.

Because I used the original mount, with the new bumper, I had to make a slight mod to my bumper, you can see my build here https://www.wranglerforum.com/f314/ro...l#post24052177

To help, the original mount looks like this:

The new one looks like this:

Also, there was a large batch of the new mounts that were apparently manufactured backwards. And MOPAR did nothing to recall them. Rather, they decided to let the duds get found by buyers who would basically try to install them, realize it was impossible, then contact the dealer/FCA for help. Some people had major issues with a torn apart front end and a new mount "on the way." Which either left their Jeep undriveable, or required them to put it all back together. A guy on here had to tear apart and reassemble like 2 or 3 times before he got one manufactured properly, so check before you start wrenching!

Sorry for the long post to a seemingly simple question. Visit this thread for more, EXCELLENT, information. About hoops, lights, winches, mounts, tire carriers, EVERYTHING HR!! But I'll link you right to the post that started the discussion on the new MOPAR mount issues: https://www.wranglerforum.com/f274/ha...l#post24476841
