Rattling from the back

So I put a new teraflex lift on my JKU. And now I have a rattle noise when I hit the gas. It sounds like it's coming from heat shield between gas tank and muffler. Did I loosen something by putting in those exhaust spacers?

Check for a broken weld at the heat shield.

Sorry for bringing up old thread. I think this is happening to me only when under an engine load though. Is that possible? I saw the heat shield was close to the muffler so I bent it back up. Hope that's what it was

The poster above you is correct IMO, the welds on the exhaust heat shield are known weak points. You can take a large hose clamp, tighten it down on the shield/pipe and that should eliminate the rattle.

I had similar issue right after installing my leveling kit. I know it was purely coincidence but I managed to get a small rock caught above the heat shield that caused a rattle. Drove me crazy thinking it had something to do with the leveling kit somehow. I felt pretty dumb when I found the rock.

my 2016 Willys JK makes a heat shield sounding "buzz" on acceleration. Drives me crazy

I just put the Teraflex leveling kit in and a few days later noticed a rattle. I found the heat shield above the muffler sitting on the muffler. I figured they put the stupid thing there for a reason so I used larger washers and reachEd up in there and revolted it on. Strange how this thing falls off after the leveling kit

Yup just pushed mine back up all the way. No sounds at all so far. I thought it was something worse but that seemed to do the trick and no noises after that!
