Rear Seat Removal

Hey All.
Just got me a 2008 Wrangler Sport.
How many of you guys and gals have removed the rear seats permanently?
Hows it work out for you? I've had mine folded up, gotta carry my fire gear and such 24/7.

Anyone got the Tuffy shelf system? Custom builds?
Pictures would be greatly appreciated, as I am completely up in the air on what to do.

Seats been out for over a year. No need for it

Mines been removed for over a year, that makes me about 50 lbs light. Plenty of room for guns & gear!

We recently bought a 2013 Sahara. Within the first week we removed the rear seat, took it down to the basement and covered it in plastic. It'll probably sit there for the next 10 years or so.

Do all of you just keep it open in the back when you go topless?

I have some important stuff, I'd like to be able to run to the grocery store and such without worrying about it.

I use mechanical straps for most of my things. Some things are in a box, some are just strapped down. Light things are strapped with bungie cords. When my family goes to my wife's family in Egypt for a few months I always take the seat out. We don't have too many thieves in my area, so it's enough just to cover everything in a blanket. When I take the top down, I just have to check to make sure nothing will fly. I carry a lot of water and gear this way. My computer is dead for now, I can't post photos yet. But those mechanical straps and any large box should be a good start. You can maybe chain it as well if you have thieves.

I took my rear seats out today so I can spray bed liner. I had to use a compressor wrench to get some of those bolts out.

Good Pictures, Thanks for the input. Let me explain a little more, see if anyone has anything further. I am a volunteer firefighter/EMT.
I keep all my gear (boots, pants, jacket, helmet, medical bag, lights, etc) in my Jeep all the time. It's loose, but i can put it in my gear bag and secure that somehow.

But I've only had her for a day, we'll see what happens.

I had a 2010 Runicon 2 door, that I replaced the back seat with a Tuffy security deck. You may want to consider that since our Jeeps aren't most secure vehicles. I'm LEO sow I'd need a place to secure my firearms and other equipment that I was responsible for.

I took mine out of my 2 door several months ago and I don't miss it. It allows you to use that space to store cargo. Plus, if you're not a child it's nearly impossible to get back there to sit anyway. It's one of the best things I've done to my Jeep. No regrets.

First, from one side of the service to the other, Thanks! And Stay Safe!

The Tuffy security deck, do you have photos? How far forward (towards the drivers seat) does it go?

My back seat has been removed since i've owned my Jeep. I even recently removed the rear seat belts. For securing stuff I use bungee cords and cambuckle straps.
