Replacing door straps

I ordered some new paracord door straps for my 2-door 2015. I was able to take the inside door panel off and unhook all the straps/connections except for one. The only one I'm concerned about is the wired connection that attaches to door near locking mechanism. I don't have power windows or locks, so this wire (I assume) only tells the vehicle if the door is ajar. The connection has a rubber housing that I'm guessing is only there to keep it from getting wet. Is it ok to cut this out? Is it ok to not put that connection back on? Just wanting to make sure before I do anything. Thanks for helping a newbie!
