RPMs too high

Hey everyone, I just bought a new 2012 arctic edition wrangler and the RPMs started reving really high and I had to pull her over. It had a smell like she was over heating. Does anyone know why this would happen? A bit concerned!

Well 6000 rpm shortly should not a problem with that engine.

Did you bump the shifter, and it downshifted on you?

Heard of that happening with auto 2012.

Nope. I looked at shifter and the 4x4 shifter. I'll take it in. Just thought maybe I was doing something wrong. I do love her!

Same thing for me one day....30km/hres 18mph around 6000 RPM,it was my wife s bag accidently putting my Jeep on 4/4 high....Simply by pulling the shifter a little bit on the right....Just pulled back to left and everything goes well....

But I notice that my transmission stock at 3000-4000 RPM on 3rd speed on the highway at around 80-90km/hres or 49-55 mph...It happens 1 times on 3,is this normal....
