Here are the specifics to make it work (You'll need Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop)... your local FastSigns can do the final lettering to match hood lettering colors and etc.
Freeform adjustment - You need to add +5 degrees Horizontal after the above settings...
This removed the slight (5 deg.) slant in this font that is not prevalent in the RUBICON logo.
This will cause some minor concave curvitures in the stock of the I's and R's... but unless you
are cutting a letters that are 1 foot high... it should be fine.
These are close... you can adjust as necessary.. but only a trained graphics designer would
argue that you aren't right on...
I got curious about Eras after reading this. I use the Adobe suite at work and couldn't locate the font. A search on Google found this:
"As I recall, Eras is a very old PostScript Type 1 (dating from the late 1980s or early 1990s) which had problems in the way it was constructed. As I recall, it doesn't work with current versions of InDesign. I think at one point you might be able to get replacements from Adobe, but I suspect that time is long past. (This is a very old memory, so I could be wrong about some of this.)
I would just substitute a different font."
So I wonder if Eras has been replaced by something.
IT won't load on this site directly...says its not an allowed file type. So I changed the file type to .txt. once you download it, change the extension back to .otf and it should load like normal fonts.
Hey y’all, I personally think the font “Ben Pioneer” on da font.com is more similar to the original font. The “B” is slightly different, but otherwise requires no real modifications. I’m currently working on replacing my letters (still trying to get the exact size I want) but I think it looks better with the Ben Pioneer font then the other one on this thread.
Usually I find the difference is not the R but the width and shape of the U and O are different.
I modified this Font to work. Had to widen and flatten the O ..
It’s crazy how difficult it is to get an exact match, even when sticking to only the word Rubicon. Even in examples that look great, like Rhino above, the O and the C are still incorrect. I believe Pixel Decals has the correct font…at least the O looks right; can’t confirm whether the C is correct. I can’t confirm because their example doesn’t have a C in it...obviously other letters are made up so those don’t matter as much. I just drove myself crazy with this trying to design a grab bar from CMM.
A follow up on my earlier post…as I said, I couldn’t find an exact match anywhere. When I sent my design to CMM I told them that and they said they had the correct 10A vector from Jeep and would use it. Came out perfect. You can get super close, probably close enough that most people wouldn’t notice, but if you want it exact, good luck.
