Rubicon HR or 75th?

I know it's personal opinion from a standpoint of the looks of both, but what about the standard equipment? A similar optioned 75th is about $2K less then the HR, if you're not doing hardcore wheeling is it worth it?

Anyone look at both and go with one over the other for a particular reason other then the looks of both?

Thank you!!!

I would spend the $2k more and get the HR for sure. It's much more capable off-road and as a bonus it will hold it's value way longer then the 75th.

I've just looked at both and he Backcountry, Hard Rock had better options and standard features for the price. The Leather, Lockers, and Sway Bars along with power dome won me over.

Considered both.

Did 75th because I don't plan to off road much (have a 95YJ for that).

Edit: had posts confused.

Go HR, hands down. There's so much more than $2k worth of goodies in the package.

There is no doubt the extra $2K is worth it if you are going to use it or just want to have the extras.

For me I got the color (sarge green) I wanted in the 75th.

I mainly do snow, not so difficult mountain trails, and beach sand so realistically anything over the sport with 3.73 and trac loc is over kill capability-wise.

Tough choice indeed. Especially since you aren't planning any serious off-roading.

It was the hood and bumpers that first caught my attention with the 10A. The 75A continues that same factory look, but in a less-serious off-roading configuration.

On the 75A you could always spring for the Tru-Lok® Differential Rear Axle option (w/3.73). You get something with a step-up in better off-roading capabilities, but not quite so far as a Hard Rock.

I don't think you'll be sorry with if you choose the 75A.

Not sure there is a wrong answer. I just saw a 75th in person for the first time last night and couldn't get over how much I hated the way they painted the bumpers. If they came just grayish/black like the hard rock they would look so much better.

I was not a fan of the Bronze accents at first, but they have grown on me, I really like them with the Sarge and the Mojave Sand. The $2K price difference IMO would be more then made up on resale value for the HR.

I think I am just going to drive both and pick the one that I feel looks better. I am still thinking about the AEV JK 350 as well.

Thank you for the reply's, I do not think a wrong decision can be made here.

AEV JK350? Well now you just crossed the line of nonsense. Save $2k because you may not want to offroad, but like the look, then throw out there that you would also be considering a $50k increase to get a V8 and even more offroad capability?

Nice...

HR FTW!!!!
It's costing me $3300 to install air lockers and regearing... For $2000 you get 4:10 transfer case, lockers, sway bar disconnect and 4.10 gears.
If you live in the snow belt, lockers will make a difference!
Better to have and not need than to need and not have!!!!

Obviously it comes down to what you will be happy with, but I went with the HR even though I'm not planning to take my jeep off into some outrageous canyon trails or what not. I still wanted to have the most capable jeep I could buy from the factory. I didn't want to buy a jeep and turn around and feel I needed to throw more money at it for gearing, sway bar disconnects, etc... So the Hard Rock was the Jeep for me.

Funny thing though, while at the dealership the sales guy kept mentioning how awesome the 75th was... I wasn't taking the bait (besides I'm not a fan of the wheels or accent color), haha!

Which ever you decide I'm positive you'll love it.

Huh??? I'm not sure what you mean, but yes the JK350 is in the mix too and it is $20K more, not $50K. Obviously the AEV would be much more then what I need, but I know I would Mod either the HR/75th to look similar anyway, I wouldn't keep it stock for long.

If you plan to do that much modding (other than cosmetic/convenience stuff), then this isn't even a question...get a HR.

You'll want the gears and probably the discos and front locker by the sounds of it.

Unless you're just trying to get a cruising 10mph down the parking lot bling jeep? Then just get one of the 'pre-packaged' AEV models for the look. But I hope you'd use it for some off road stuff.

Or better yet, maybe you'd want one of those rubitrux things.

I was contemplating this also. I went 75th because of limited edition package only being here once. I optioned up the 75th with most things, not locker or dual top. Will do 90% street use, so don't really need it with 3.73's. Besides the green is just the ultimate color....

The green is damn nice. I saw one in person and it was sharp. I like the granite too much...and I wanted the 75th...I decided on that since it was announced. A little part of me was thinking "ya gotta get sarge, it's limited edition!" but I know I'll be happier with the granite. I think the bronze and granite look awesome together irl (although they look crappy together on Jeeps build site).

I was dead set on a JK350, but part of me thinks I should buy a HR/75th and drive it stock for a little while, then I will have a much better idea of what I really want, and I will not be forced to be all AEV parts. I do think the JK350 is an awesome package though.
