Seat Swap 07 to 14

So I just completed my seat swap of my manual 07 cloth seats to 2014 manual cloth sets. All in all the process went well. Everything bolts in the same exact spots regardless of year. The only issue that someone will run into is wiring. The wiring was changed throughout the years in these jeeps and I was forced to swap the wiring. On the driver side it was extremely easy. I literally took from old seat and put it into the new driver seat. Even the only seat belt worked in the new seat belt buckle!

Now onto the passenger side, that was more entertaining. On the passenger side I needed to swap out the entire base to the new seat. The reason for this is the airbag weight sensor. They were completely different and from what I gather you cannot splice the wires because of the CanBus system.

So to remove both seats you'll need an 18MM socket. THEY WERE SUPER TIGHT, I snap a bolt off on the driver side that I still need to get out. After you have the seats removed on the passenger side there will be 6 nuts that hold the seats onto the base. 3 per side with 1 on the front and 2 on the rear. These nuts use a 1/2" wrench, I highly suggest a ratchet wrench. Bought a set from Harbor Freight for 20 bucks. After that take the new seat and do the same. Once both bases are off just install the old base onto the new seat. It really isn't a hard task and I'm sure if you have side airbags or power seats it may be a little more intensive but all in all it is a simple job that realistically can be completed in 2 hours if you have all the tools and the bolts actually come off.

Any questions please feel free to ask and yes the 2014 cloth seats are a good and well worth improvement over the brick like 07s.

How many beers did you have during the install? haha

Good job! Though I have to disagree. As someone who's owned a '14, I really like the firmer '09 seats I have now, better. To each their own!

I would estimate it to be a 1.5 beer install so easy to moderate as long as you have the tools
