Short Older People........

seem to have a harder time getting into the passenger seat on my 2.5" lifted JKU. Other than what's available on stock vehicles....what works for you? Need something to grab with the left hand near the shifter area. Drop down running boards are the answer,,,,,,but for now I need a cheap mod. Maybe get a soft shackle?

Wooden box with a rope attached. Use a 2x6 to make the box and then 2x6 or 2x4 for teh top . It will be close enough to call a 8 inch step that you can put down, get in and then pull on the rope to pick it up and toss behind you.

We have quite a few short, older people in our Jeep group. Several use a collapsible plastic stool that they attach with a cord to the seat. They can stow it under the seat and deploy it by opening it and lowering it to the ground. When they get back in they just pull it back up by the cord. Too easy.

I swear I remember seeing removable "Steps" that hang off the side, back when I had my TJ, but I don't remember how they hooked on, so may be a no-go with rocker-rails etc.

Buy a E-Z Folding Step Stool from Amazon...

They make several sizes and step heights now. Fold it up and throw it in the back.

I question the shifter area, seems you wouldn't have upwards pulling power located there....???...???

The wife is 5' 3" and uses the Bartact paracord handles in her Jeep. (LINK)

I use the CMM aluminum handles in mine which also hold my mirrors when the doors are off. Both are nice pieces that work well. (LINK)

Back when I was injured, and had great difficulty walking (let alone climbing), this is what I did. A Folding Step, like that shown by @m998dna , with a rope attached, as mentioned by @RJames55 .

My Mother in law has MS and has good 76yo upper body strength. She uses both the soft grab handle on the roll bar and I have the same handles on the A pillar as shown above. She gets in and out no problem.

I have been driving Jeeps for 43 years. I have seen this several times.

Climb in, flip the strirrup back inside and go.

Can confirm. I have one on the passenger side, for all my shorty friends. It is worth it's weight in gold and is easily removable.

If you don't do a lot of heavy duty off-roading, AMP Research PowerSteps work great. We occasionally drive some elderly relatives around and those make getting in and out the wife's JK fairly easy.
