Similar questions arise when riding my motorcycle. Do you wave at grizzly hog riders or youngsters on crotch rockets? Me being a lover and not a fighter, I wave at anyone on two wheels. Similarly, I wave at all Jeeps. They can choose to not wave back but that is on them, not me.

With today's political climate there is already too much anger out there and so I choose to raise my hand just as I would extend it if we met in person.

Do what makes YOU feel right and let GOD sort out the rest.

I only wave at Jeep Wranglers, and any pretty girl wearing Wrangler jeans.

Yes, and i never considered that I wouldn't. It's a JL and it will look exactly like one coming at you in oncoming traffic...am I supposed to check which back half it has on it before waving? Why be like that anyway?

I'll probably wave. I wonder if there will be a telltale thing about their front end that will make them easy to identify before seeing the side.

I guess I'm the odd duck here. I wave at everyone. Just the way it was when I was growing up. You come up on a vehicle coming towards you, raise a hand, or just your fingers. Neighborly thing to do.

I do make sure I give Jeeps a better wave though, hahaha!

I live in suburbs of NYC.

10% of the soccer moms wave
50% of teenage girls wave
90% of all males wave

I've only been a Jeep owner for a couple of years but my girlfriend grew up owning a CJ5. She told me that I should wave at CJ5/7s, and Wranglers but not Cherokees. I've been trying to clarify what the criteria is for waving since clearly it isn't a Jeep wave or a Wrangler only wanted. I think what is being discussed here is a "Jeep roll bar" wave. If it has a Jeep logo AND it has a roll bar, then you wave.

That being said, I'll probably still wave at the Gladiators because I think they're cool.

New Jeeper here (and still driving a stock Sport, so...there's that). However, I'll wave at any CJ/Wrangler, and would likely wave at a Gladiator (although I haven't seen any on the road yet) just because I wouldn't know it's a Gladiator until it was practically passing me. It's still a Wrangler, IMO. I'm already sort of "programmed" to notice CJ/Wranglers, so other Jeep models don't always register, but if I get a wave from a Grand Cherokee or a Renegade (or whatever Jeep), I'll return it.

The Gladiators are the mullet haircut of Jeeps, its all wrangler up front and a pickup truck out back.

You just have to wave.

Yup, sure will. I wave at all lifted Jeeps anyway, not just Wranglers.

REALLY?
Who are we to tell you to wave? Will you faithfully wave?
Will the Gladiators wave back?

I make my own decisions and I am the one that knows how I have behaved. If I don't like my behavior, I change it. If they do or don't wave back, so be it!

Do what you think is right. BTW, I'm the one using my turn signal...

Always...

I'm a fairly new and still super excited JK owner. In the Greater Toronto Area. I wave at every variation of the Wranger that I see. Problem is, the majority of them don't wave back. Many modded and lifted jeeps here that will never get a whiff of offroading. And they are overwhelmingly the ones who don't wave back. I can usually tell by looking at the driver if they'll wave back.

Or maybe it's just because I'm stock and they don't have time for me?

I wave. I wave to other Wrangler Jeeps because of the brotherhood. I wave to any modified Cherokees because the typically around here they will throw up a wave too. It’s not necessarily a Jeep wave but an understanding that we both off-road our vehicles. And finally I’ve received a lot of waves from guys with modded Tacos and other stuff for the same reason. If I see the wave I’ll throw up a wave to them too. So this brings me to the Gladiator.... Of course I will wave.

It is not because your Jeep is stock. They don't wave back because they are not paying attention, or simply because they do not know what the Jeep Wave is.

Once you get out on to the back roads in the GTHA there's tons of waves. It's tough in urban areas, there's enough traffic that I don't blame anyone for not noticing or choosing to focus on the road instead.

I don't know where in the GTA you are, but Guelph Line as one example is a veritable jeep parade - plenty of jeep waves every day.

Edit: of course I'll wave at Gladiators, they are clearly family.

I wave at lifted/built XJ/ZJs, so Im pretty sure Ill be waving at JTs.

I do need to redirect the rear washer sprayer so the Jeep can pee on other vehicles to show dominance.

I'm in Thornhill. If you know the area, you'll know the types of people that drive Wranglers. But really, all of Toronto is mostly the same. In any case, I always wave, and I really love when they obviously see the wave but ignore it. Or just look at me like I'm some kind of weirdo.

I happened to pass TWO this week (first time I’ve seen one in person), and I DID wave...but...I must admit at the time I thought it was a JL coming...then it passed me and I felt a bit conflicted...and this very question came to my mind...too funny.

I wave at most...especially if it’s had any mods at all. The soccer mom Jeeps (hard top Saharas mostly around here) never wave back...but..what can you do...

The Gladiator is still mostly a Jeep**, just with a Kardashian rear end...I’m not really a fan at the moment, but I suspect it will grow on my as the JL has...the rear view just looks really strange to me for whatever reason..I can’t really put my finger on it. I will say I would LOVE to have a capable 4wd convertible pickup....

**you guys know what I’m talking about here..CJ, TJ, JK etc...

Jesus, I feel like a guy that has been in suspended animation. As an owner of a 93,01 and a new to me 12 wrangler, I always wave. In my 5 days of ownership, I am about 40% passing around 20 wranglers. I only wave to wranglers and CJs.

Not waving is a foreign as my leather seats and the fact that I might be the first owner to remove the hard top from my '12... oh, and the subwoofer, and the power, heated MIRRORS???????

What will they think of next?

When I was raising my 4 kids (3 boys 1 girl) I tried to reach them lots of things... (Forgive me, please allow me a proud moment and I promise I'll finish my point for what it's worth)
Oldest Son is a contract law specialist in Philly, my Daughter is a Forensic accountant, next Son is currently an Infantry Officer in Army Ranger School, youngest gets commissioned a Field Artillery Officer this Wednesday (end shameful pride moment)
Anyway.....

One lesson/credo was...." Do the Right thing for the Right reason and let the outcome take care of itself"

I look at courtesy, compassion and giving that way.

Add waving to that list now too...

Pretty much the motto I try to live by and raise my kids by!

Sometimes people think we do more than we had too but we did what we thought was right and sometimes when we don’t know which option to choose we fall back to what is the right thing to do, not the easiest, not the most self serving but the right thing. I never worry about my decision when I do it that way.

Sounds like your kids are doing well!

I do the wave at all Wranglers. Have not passed a Gladiator yet on the road, but will give the courtesy to them. Most wave back as a sign of respect and acknowledgment, some do not. I just keep on with my day and do not let it bother me.
