Should we wave at Jeep Gladiators?

Been having this discussion with several other Wrangler owners and, to this point, the answer remains unclear to me. The Gladiator looks like a Wrangler and functions like a Wrangler but is also something completely different.

In your opinion, do they or do they not warrant a Jeep wave?

An astute observation. I live in the city and I get a wave-back like 0.002% of the time.

Your point is also fair, I guess it kind of depends on who actually buys the JT. Will Wrangler owners upgrade? Or will truck owners come over? I tend to feel like it's going to be the former, but it's hard to say.

INB4 this becomes a another "who waves back" thread. I think the Gladiator, if it resembles the photos in any way is very much a Wrangler (like the CJ8) and should be treated as such, even if the chassis is shared with the RAM.

I would say yes... Underneath it is "Wrangler", just a little longer.

I wave at any original J10/20's and any other FSJ I run into on the road, so of course I will wave at the JT.

The jeep wave needs to go the way of the dodo...

It was cool 15 years ago when there were a handful on the road. Today they are everywhere.

How will one know that the approaching Wrangler is a JL or a JT, until after it already has passed you?

This. You won't know it's a JT until it's already gone by.

It still has a Jeep soul, unlike the unibody stuff (modified XJ's excluded).

I'll wave because:

* I'm getting to the age where I'm "going the way of the dodo" (hat off at the table, shoes at the door, wave, etc.).
* Unless front end styling is significantly different than the Wrangler, won't know it's not one until we've passed.
* Think of the wave like the military salute. Acknowledge the vehicle, not the driver.
* At the price point these things will likely come to market at, they've earned a wave.

Does it have a jeep logo and one or more of the following; solid axles, mods, or someone waving at you -> OK to Wave, Its not called the wrangler wave.

Or don't, what you do behind the closed doors of your jeep is your business. But not waving gives people weird ideas about what that hand is doing. Just saying...

So true, they are everywhere!

I live in a smaller burb, and you see the same 10 or so most days. We always wave to each other. Problem I have is that when driving one of our other cars I find myself habitually waiving to them. They have to be wondering, "WTF?"

If you can afford to buy a JT you can wave if not then no don't wave as you don't want to appear jealous or economically inferior as JT owners will sense it if wave and can't really afford one.

Wranglers are everywhere in the PNW. Most of the time I just wave and don't even look to see if they wave back. I might pass 10-15 just on my way in to work during the morning commute. But on less busy roads, I definitely look and wave.

I'd wave at a Gladiator or anyone else that waves at me.

I dont wave at Wranglers let alone the Gladiator. The wave is old news and there are just too many in my neck of the woods to keep up with.

I have allot of Wranglers in my neck of the woods and I wave at them all.

I'll wave at the Gladiators as well, you won't know until you see it go by .

I wave at them all because in my mind I'm upholding a tradition that soldiers upheld years before me. Who am I to kill that tradition.

I do it out of respect for a generation past that sacrificed more then most modern generation will ever understand.

I'd wave, but the JT needs to wave first. It's the rule, newer Wrangler initiates the wave.

Itís a harmless, lighthearted thread. Take your doors off, hit some dirt and let that condescension slide off your shoulders.

All Wranglers get the Jeep wave.

Non Wranglers don't.

Gladiator <> Wrangler, thus no wave. (unless pretty girl waves first)
