Shout out to Smitty built

I know there product has a bad rap on here but I have got to give a big shout out to there customer service. I have the swing out tire carrier that they make and mine rattles and keeps coming loose, so I was reading some reviews on here and people were not having the same issue that I was having, and then when i looked at the pictures I noticed that the way the swing out arm attached was different than mine. So I shot smitty built an email and told them that i saw the updated and mounting system and asked them if there was anyway that i could get the updated parts so I wouldn't have the problem with mine any more. Well they asked me for photos of the old system so I sent those to them and today a whole brand new swing out tire carrier showed up at my house. The whole thing, couldn't believe it. they didn't even ask me to pay for shipping. Just thought I would share my experience. Also whole thing took less than a week from when i sent the first email.

Wish I could say the same. I asked a question about a bolt size on their tire carrier after I bought it. The response made it seem like they were annoyed I bothered to ask a simple question. Best part they were wrong too. Next chance I had to buy their product was a winch so paid more and got a warn instead.

I picked up a set of XRC 2 Dr corners from 4WP during the March Madness sale. Out of the box, no hardware but really cheap.

I called Smittybilt on the following Monday morning asking if I could purchase the hardware kit. The rep asked why, I told them I bought a set of corners at 4WP that was missing the hardware. All he did was ask for the invoice number and they shipped me a HW kit for free.

Nothing wrong with Smittybilt.
I had Smittybilt parts on my 1975 chevy stepside, and '77 GMC.
They've been around longer than most of the people that bash them

Nothing more wrong with Smitty stuff than anything else. As a matter of fact, some of their stuff is better than other companies put their name on.

I stopped and looked at their bumpers at an off-road expo and wasn’t impressed. The back edges were quite sharp I thought. No deburring before paint. I think a finished product should have finished edges.

Full disclosure: I have never looked at other bumpers, so I don’t know if this is common practice.

I have found their customer service to be top notch. I had bumpers, winch and top on my tj, and skid on my jk. The only issue I had was the top on the tj, $179 replacement that fit perfect, but I noticed a month into winter that the seams showed salt water seepage on the inside. I asked if it was normal, and what I could do to treat it, because my oem top did not ever do this, and instead they sent an entire new top. Didn't even ask for the original back.
The jk skid was missing one rather important bit of info in the instructions regarding the...flange nut i think? Anyway, the nut that goes in the crossmember, has an arm on it. The instructions never mention it. Fortunately I knew that going in from install vids so knew what to do. But it is an ecfellent skid with a perfect fit.
