Show us your Docking Bar Setup!

I just ordered a Vector Offroad - Full Width 44.5" JK/JKU docking bar for use with the Alpine Restyle Head Unit. I got it so that I can add a tablet, phone, and handheld Ham radio 67 Design mount for each one.

Everyone who's got a docking bar, show us a pic of your Docking Bar setup with all your toys mounted!

Our phones aren't in their mounts, but the Gopro and Garmin are. I'm using 67d for everything but the Garmin mount and even then, everything is 67d but the clamp on the bar, which is RAM. I have several RAM bar mounts that I swapped out for 67d. I just prefer the build quality of the 67d stuff.

I’m still working on adding to my Ram Mount collection and the toys to mount but I like how my 80/20 aluminum extrusion coupled with Vector standoffs worked out. Cheap solution and I like the way the Yak Attack Screwball mounts to the “bar.” Much cleaner than those U-bolts from Ram.

Notice the Dodge Demon I caught in traffic.

Forgot the newest toy and reason for adding the “docking “ station.

This is my setup before I switched from the Vector Stubby bar to the full-width bar. But the setup still looks like this.

I see a lot of guys, (including a few here --- @LuvmyXJ & @HKLover ), mounting their phones just between the dash storage cup and the steering wheel, which from the photo angle looks like a really narrow gap...

Don't you guys rap your knuckles on that mount every time you spin the wheel?

Another question for you guys that are running 3 or 4+ devices...

Do you run some sort of "USB Hub" to accommodate all those power connections? Or do you just run each one on it's own battery til they get low and then move the same USB cord around when each device needs it to recharge?

I'll try and mount the wife's phone and get a few shots for you, but I have plenty of space. I did have to play around with it and experiment with different lengths of arms, but I love it where it is now.

For power, I have USB cords run for our phones but the Garmin and Gopro are on their battery power. My goal is to run the wiring for a small hub up behind the dash to the storage area and then use that for the phones and Garmin, so the wires are basically hidden.

My Garmin GPS is always plugged in, but the iPad and iPhone have enough power to last me all day on the trail.

This is my old setup I have since install a RockHard sports bar but the layout is just the same. I also updated my phone holder to the Scosche MagicMOUNT. Holds my 6+ without issue. I added a USB port from my H/U so I can run a very short cable from the phone to the USB port, 6 inches.

Nope, plenty of room for knuckles, I've never bumped my phone while steering. And I have a 12v plug splitter and an Anker brand 12v adapter with two USB outlets on it for my stuff.

Impressive setup. Do you still have access to the cut out under the Go Pro?

I am thinking of doing something similar.

@NaptownLarry

Here's a couple of shots to show the space between fingers and the mount. I have the steering wheel adjusted down for these but only lose an inch or so with it adjusted up the entire way.

If by cutout, you mean the dash tray, then yes, you have full access to it. (Don't mind the dirt and leaves, lol)

I have my phone mounted with a RAM X-grip on a Pro Clip base. I had to swap from a standard socket arm to a long socket arm to get mine high enough not to block my view of the radio's touch screen and far enough to the right to be out of the way of my paws on the steering wheel. I still bump mine from time to time when I'm not paying attention, but it may just be bad technique on my part.

Did you ever considering going with a "magnetic" 67 designs mount for your phone instead of the clamp?

I'm just thinking that since the phone goes in and out of my Jeep every time I drive it. The magnetic mount might be a little more convenient for that specifically. --- Tablets, Garmins, etc that were for off road, I'd want on something a little more solid like the gripper or X-mounts.

I had a magnetic mount before I went to the 67d stuff. It was ok, but I prefer to use a wireless charging pad and have one at home and at work, so I got rid of the magnet. The clamp is easy to use one handed and isn't any slower than the magnetic mount.

67 Designs makes their own magnetic mount. But yeah, I didn't think about the fact that if you do the metal plate on your phone, that stops you from wireless charging.

I've seen wireless charging clamp style phone mounts from other manufacturers. I wonder if 67 Designs has considered putting that into their development pipeline?

I've actually wanted to ask them that. Lord knows I have enough money into their stuff, I ought to be a shareholder, lol.

It's a 67d Vector Bar clamp coupled with the 67d GoPro mount. Both can be found here.

https://www.67d.com/collections/moun...the-vector-bar

I ditched my RAM mounts for 67d. They're pricey but worth it for me.

Show us your Docking Bar Setup!

Waiting on a mid-width JKE Dock. Didn’t know they were made to order, at least that what the note from Jaime at vector off-road said after they received the order.

Should be in next week, I hope this is the mounting solution I’ve been looking for. I’ve tried Proclip, VersaMount, haven’t been happy with any of them yet. Proclip just couldn’t put the phone in a position I liked and the phone bounced around like crazy on the VersaMount2

My comment is not to offend...Apologies if I do.

Does this setup feel a bit claustrophobic?
Is your night vision affected as a result of too much brightness in your sight lines?
What devices are you running on that rack and are you running redundant systems? If so, why?
Is your view reduced by having a smaller window?

Last winter I spent a considerable amount of time crossing quiet passes at night in snow storms. With the darkness I moved my phone(google maps) below the dash line to keep the glare down in order to maintain my night vision.

That being said, I can see adding a small tablet in the Jeep for excursion mapping using Avenza maps with BLM maps as a base layer. A CB or small ham mic might also go in for backup comms. Just haven't worked out how I will implement it.

Not a docking bar, but for my needs I love the 67 Designs especially the dual ball setup.

Is the vector dock the same width as a bicycle handle bar?

The 67D mounts seem to be way too pricey to not at least explore other options first for cell phone mounts, like the handlebar mounts on amazon or walmart.

wonderin if somethin like these would work: https://www.walmart.com/c/kp/bike-mount-phone-holders

$7 looks alot more appealing than $30-80
