I question Smittybuilt quality. had problems with rocker guards on my 91 Yj, and it seems the quality has not improved since then. Have these exact same guards on the 2012 rubi 4dr, and what should have been a 30 minute install, turned into a 3 hour ordeal involving a right hand grinder, cursing, more cursing, then more cursing, several attempts at new nuts and finally giving up and having a single bold holding the front of the drivers side to the frame. Problem was the quality of the mfg'ing. Bolt holes did not line up on either side. Was able to get the passenger side ground out enough to get all the nuts on, but the driver's side was a no-go. so, given the off roading we are going to be doing here in CO, I decided to eat the investment and go with LOD. If their sliders are anything like the front bumpers, I envision a 45 minute install. The look is great.. love the look, but not impressed at all with the mfgr'ing qa

So I gotta ask you guys.....Yea, I'm new to all this add on jeep stuff....
What kind of material are these made of ?? I realize they are tubing, but what wall thickness are we looking at here ??
I have found some so called "Bumper Guards" that were on Pick ups and they were nothing more than 062." wall tube....tinny junk that was chromed...
I'd kinda like to get a set of these because I don't like the exposed body panels and frame on my JK U X..... Those look like they'd cover that up or hide it....
I have a Pipe Bender, I could bend some up out of Black Pipe..... Thanks !! "BH"
