soft top & half doors?

Taking delivery of a new 2012 Wrangler Unlimited Sport in Dozer tomorrow. Comes with hard top and full doors, but I'm anxious to get a soft top, looking around on Cragslist now.

I am, however, thinking of possibly getting half doors in the future if the price is right. If I get a soft top now, can that be adapted to fit the half doors? Or do I need to buy a different soft top if I switch to half doors?

Sorry for the newb question...

Thanks!

The half doors are mega expensive and work fine with OEM soft top.
Personally, I use the Trektop NX and am considering adding the 2-piece doors... Bestop 51798-35 - Bestop® 2-Piece Front Doors in Black Diamond for 07-12 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec

Don't make the same mistake I made when I bought my Jeep. The factory half doors should be ordered at the same time you finance your Jeep. They run in the neighborhood of $5000 (for all 4, painted, panels, uppers, etc) I kick myself for not doing it then. Now, I will probably settle for the Rugged Ridge, or strike force zebra half doors.
You wont have any fitment issues with any half door and any top.

I bought my halfdoors after the fact (2 door) and it cost me $2K, and $350 for paint. I didn't care because that's what I wanted for my Rig. It's all up to you.

No modifications need to go from ful to half or visa versa.

Thanks! That is big money, and I assume they don't come up used very often...

What do you do if you have the soft top and get half doors, are there soft wndows you add to the soft top?

I'm not 100% sure I want half doors because I do like the hard top, so definitely don't want to commit today. Just wanted to know what the future lies if I decide to get them.

I may just keep the fulls and take the doors off when I want the more open experience, but I do have a 3 and 5 year old so I don't like the doorless idea with them in.

I'd encourage you to leave the doors on in the rear when you have the young ones on board.
This is the first season I've pulled off the rear doors for my kids, aged 7 & 9. I also use Body Armor rear trail doors when they are in the Jeep.

Yes, absolutely. I wasn't as emphatic as I should have been in my last post - I would not take the rear doors off with my kids in, so the half doors would be nice - but I don't want to sacrafice the full doors for them.

Buying your first Jeep is a challenge - it's like nothing else, so many options! I can see it being my new addiction.

The kit I bought was all inclusive (I would hope so for 2 grand). They came with upper doors. The only thing I needed was paint and assembly. I had them painted then I put them together myself.

The half doors when combined with the uppers make a full door and work with either the soft or hard top. The main reason I got them was because I didn't like the mirror options available at the time when I went doors off. They didn't seem to work right with the doors on and/or weren't very stable so you get a shakey view all the time. Plus I've always hated the way Wranglers looked with no top, but full doors. Kinda like convertibles with the windows rolled up.

Unfortunately. no. I'm pretty much planning on not using either my full doors or my hard top again until I need to so they are packed away.

Like this maybe:

Man, love the half doors with the uppers and top down but do not like it as pictured.

Maybe I'll have to try and find half doors used (probably unlikely) or try aftermarket ones...

But, when you drop the top and store the uppers...

This site looks like you can get 4 doors for ~$2200:

2007-2012 Wrangler JK JKL half doors

But $400 for assembly?

I ride like this every chance I get. Summer is trying to show up here in the Pacific Northwest. Been wheeling like this a few times.

You are seeing what all are saying. They are expensive as heck. They only way to get them truly is to pick one up/order one with them on it.

I paid $1545 with free shipping on Quadratec for 2 door, doors, panels and uppers. Plus paint and locksmith fees to put the locks together and key them. Assembled them myself. Love them!
