Solar Panel for Hood

I ran across this recently and thought I’d share. According to my math, this should keep up with my fridge on a sunny day. Don’t see myself buying this, but it is interesting.

Thats nice actually. I have seen Defenders with flat rectangular panels on the hood, but not made to shape.

I also saw a pretty ingenious panel that was on a tray that slid out from the underneath side of a roof rack. Pull them out when stopped and camping, slide back in when traveling.

Pretty solid idea to be honest. Now I'd be curious to see what real world efficiency is for wattage.

Slider. ANother I saw had it on a tray that slid out on the passenger side. It deployed when they were stopped and camping.

$600 for 100w solar system is very high. You can get 400w portable system for less than that. I'll pass.

Seeings as solar panels don't like getting any hotter than they have to, I would think mounting them on the hood would not be conducive to the 'longevity' of the panel. I'll pass also.
